The young organization team of the 27th Kraillinger Duathlon is entering the final phase of preparation. There are three innovations, the registration portal is already open.
Krailling - The Kraillinger Duathlon is always good for premieres. Last year Maximilian Wechner made his debut as the organizer of the renowned event. At the 27th edition on May 3 this year, the 25-year-old is again the main person responsible, supported by a team of around 15 from the triathlon department of TV Planegg-Krailling. "We have grown again and have young, motivated helpers with us", says Wechner satisfied.
27. Kraillinger Duathlon 2020: Innovative premieres and innovations
More organizers also mean more opportunities for more intensive preparation. And so Wechner 2020 can come up with two innovations. For one thing, the organizers are giving up the traditional gift for all finishers this year. Instead, Wechner and his team are taking a path with a more social component. "For each starter we donate two euros to the Martinsrieder Christkindlmarkt association," said Wechner. The Planegger Association is committed to supporting people in need in the Würmtal.
The second innovation concerns the evaluation of the duathlon. Unlike in previous years, this time there is not only a Bavarian championship for the longer distance (so-called short distance: run 10.4 kilometers - cycle 42 kilometers - run 5.2 kilometers), but also for the sprint distance (5.2 - 21-2.8); but only for adults. It is the first time that the Bavarian Triathlon Association is holding national title fights over this distance. The first Bavarian duathlon champion over the sprint distance is thus chosen in Krailling.
This should not be at the expense of the hobby athletes, who continue to determine their winners in a separate rating in the so-called Volksduathlon. The organizers have also made an adjustment to the running route. "It leads more often through the changing area and less through the forest and is therefore more attractive for the spectators," explains Wechner.
27. Kraillinger Duathlon 2020: Orga team still worries
The organizer is still a little worried about two problem areas. On the one hand, the high costs due to the increased security requirements in recent years. Wechner hopes to be able to cover this as in 2019 with a high number of participants. He is confident about that. The registration portal is already open, exactly 100 starters were registered by yesterday. It is much more difficult for Wechner to acquire the necessary 15 firefighters on the route as so-called authorized personnel. So the 25-year-old definitely can't lean back.
