Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Newcomer 1. FC Union Berlin has ended the home game festivals of Eintracht Frankfurt and made another step towards remaining in the class with the first win against the Hessians.
At the start of the Eintracht stress week with three games in seven days, the Frankfurt team lost 1-0 to the promoted team on Monday evening (0-0). Sebastian Andersson gave the visitors the lead in the 49th minute, in the 67th minute Evan Ndicka made an own goal. After the second away win, the Berliners climbed in succession in the table at the end of the 23rd matchday of the soccer Bundesliga past Eintracht (11/28 points) to tenth place (29).
It will not have been due to the Frankfurt fan boycott that after the impressive 2-0 against RB Leipzig, the intoxicating 5-0 against FC Augsburg and the rousing 4-1 in the first leg of the Europa League against Red Bull Salzburg Thursday did not work this time. Florian Hübner's own goal after a hack trick by André Silva (79th) in front of 47,000 spectators was not enough. "It will be important to be compact," said Union trainer Urs Fischer. Only nobody went on it - except Union Christopher Lenz, who played the ball in the middle, where Andersson scored his ninth goal of the season undisturbed. Union was able to form its defensive even more closely, Frankfurt's attack initially unfolded even less.
But the Berliner: again it went over the left side, Trapp did not look good again and then Ndicka also scored in his own goal. Shortly thereafter, Pendant Gikiewicz held the two-goal lead against Goncalo Paciencia. But the strong Union goalkeeper was also beaten when the substitute hit Silva with a hoe trick - decisively deflected by Hübner.
