Gone are the days when the gaps were so great at the finish of a Vendée Globe that the big winner could afford to hang around at sea the last days to be sure of being able to enter the Sables-d'Olonne channel directly with the high tide or hit the nail on the head for the 8pm newspaper.
The band of furious mad sailors who will appear from Wednesday in front of the Vendée will have the throttle turned fully.
To hope to win the cup, and glory, at the end of a hallucinating edition in terms of twists and suspense, micro-gaps being announced.
This Monday evening, (at least) five sailors could still hope to triumph.
