Albert Ostermaier played in the 3rd league and became the master coach of the BSG Taufkirchen.

He also left his mark on FC Moosinning and DJK Ottenhofen.

Ottenhofen - He was always a leading player and a strong defensive strategist: Albert Ostermaier.

From meadow kicker, he became a successful Bayernliga soccer player and coach.

The little boy started his football career at the age of eight.

As is customary today, he was already visiting a youth training center back then: the Herrnöder Wiesn, a village meadow between his home village of Frauenvils and Kienraching near Taufkirchen.

There is three to four hours of football every day.

“Everyone met between the ages of eight and 16.

You were tempered for your later career at an early stage, ”recalls Ostermaier.

If the NLZ is closed because of the upcoming hay harvest, he passes the time building camps, black fishing and gang wars with the boys from the neighboring villages "

In 1969, at the age of eleven, he joined the BSG Himolla Taufkirchen.

Back then there were only two age groups, so he played in the school team up to 14 and in the youth team up to 18.

Ostermaier doesn't like to remember the conditions.

Training takes place on the hard court next to the Himolla factory premises: "In terms of underground technology, everything was available all year round, from a dusty desert to a concrete floor to an ice slope in winter."

The point games will be played on TSV-Platz, today's Aspis-Platz.

“In keeping with our standing, as a real works team, which we were often dubbed as, we already used the bus in the student team, including long journeys from Taufkirchen to Hohenpolding or Inning.

When we arrived in the large Himolla factory bus with twelve Hansln, the enthusiasm of the hosts was limited.

We still won most of the time, ”he says with a laugh.

At the age of 18 it goes into the senior sector.

The BSG plays in the District League East.

Banned for three months in league three

He quickly made the breakthrough in the first.

“In my first senior year, the then player-coach Rudi Zeiser, a member of the 1860 championship team from 1966, was fired.

I took over the libero position and held it for the next eight years.

Back then we fought against relegation for most of the years. ”In 1982 and 1983 things went better, BSG ended up in the top third.

The training plans were real relationship killers (...).

One day a week was free, so you could make an appointment with the divorce lawyer.

Albert Ostermaier on the workload in the Bavarian League

In 1984 Ostermaier and Rainer Fleck received an offer from the Bayern division TSV Ampfing (3rd division).

The clubs argue about the transfer fees, there is no agreement.

"We switched anyway, but were banned for three months." The two play in the third, which is highly credited to them.

Then they make the leap into the first.

While Fleck pulls the strings at headquarters, Ostermaier plays in the defensive midfield.

“The Bayernliga time was outstanding, but also extremely exhausting, most of the players worked full-time,” he remembers.

Especially the training plans in preparation were “real relationship killers, we had games or training almost every day, on the weekend we sometimes trained twice a day.

One day a week was usually free, so you could have an appointment with a divorce lawyer or something like that, ”he says with a grin.

It's a successful time in terms of sport.

The team includes ex-professionals and future professionals such as Norbert Janzon, Franz Schick, Roland “Magic” Kneißl and Peter Közle.

“We have always ended up in the top half of the table in our four years in the Bayernliga.

In the first year we only narrowly failed in the promotion round to the 2nd division.

The enthusiasm in Ampfing was huge at the time, we had an average of over 2000 spectators at the home games, ”enthuses the man from Taufkirchen.

Against TSV 1860, FC Augsburg and Greuther Fürth

At that time, clubs like TSV 1860, FC Augsburg, SpVgg Fürth, Jahn Regensburg and SpVgg Unterhaching were in the league.

“The absolute highlight was of course the games against 1860,” says the 62-year-old.

“In 1986 we had to compete against the lions in the Grünwalder Stadium at the Oktoberfest.” Ampfing's coach Andi Singer is quoted in the preliminary report of the BILD newspaper: “We have no chance against the Löwen professionals with our sausage stall troop.

If we score a point, I'll climb the lion in front of the main entrance of the Löwenbräu tent after the Oktoberfest game. ”Ampfing scores 3: 3 in front of 15,000 spectators.

“The ascent of the lion failed due to the altitude.

Nevertheless, it turned out to be a moody evening, ”says Ostermaier.

  • Sepp Berg: The FC Bayern legend of BSG Taufkirchen

Other games will also remain unforgettable, for example at the newly promoted FC Kronach.

Ostermaier tells of the “pure enthusiasm on the border with Thuringia.

There were thousands of spectators, a real cauldron.

If you were near the out-line, you were threatened with the umbrella or Hagglstegga ”.

In English weeks they often have to go to Upper or Lower Franconia on Wednesdays.

"Every time a day's vacation, four hours of travel, a game in the evening and extremely tough bus trips home after defeats, arrival in the marriage bed in Siggenhofen (Ottenhofen community, where he now lives; editor's note) at 2 o'clock in the morning.

The next day back to work and training, but often no regeneration after bad games, but penal training, where a lot of water and blood was sweated again, ”remembers Ostermaier.

There is also something going on socially in Ampfing.

"Other clubs drove a day's Schifferl am Tegernsee on their club excursion, and we flew to Copacabana in Rio for just under three weeks during the summer break."

Albert Ostermaier: Probably the only amateur kicker who never got a professional offer

The midfielder does not waste thoughts on a professional career.

“All high-class players say that they had an offer from this and the club.

I'll be honest, I never received a professional offer, ”he admits.

“I was firmly anchored in my job as a banker at an early stage and I switched to higher-class football much too late.

For a successful Bundesliga professional, God didn't give me the last few percent in the area of technique and speed. ”Ostermaier makes over 100 games in the 3rd division, is a regular player and has been the captain of the Ampfinger Bayernliga team for many years.

"I have completely exhausted my possibilities with it."

“But it was a real shame that my friend Rainer Fleck didn't try it.

He was also an outstanding man in the Bayern League.

In our time, consorts like Karl-Heinz Riedle, Manni Bender, Harald Spörl or Dietmar Beiersdorfer played in the Bayernliga and later made a career in the Bundesliga.

Back then they weren't a bit better than Rainer. "

In 1988 Fleck and Ostermaier switched back to the BSG.

Ostermaier becomes player-coach, the BSG has just qualified for the newly created regional league.

Immediately, his team surprisingly rose to the national league.

In the three following seasons she achieved a secure midfield position.

“The player-coach years in Taufkirchen were the best time of my career, we had a great team.

Many friendships have emerged that are still intensively cultivated today. "

DJK Ottenhofen: From the B to the district class

After four years, Ostermaier gives up the coaching position, but jumps in 1993 and 1994 on an interim basis for a few weeks, because the BSG is in a relegation battle and the coaches are separated from them prematurely.

Both times the league succeeds.

His children Laura and Tom are born.

Ostermaier wants more time and only kicks in the AH in Ottenhofen.

In the Munich senior group, the DJK is twice in the final of the Munich city championship, but loses both times against FC Bayern.

“I've enjoyed every game in my career, even the least important senior C game on the back seat of a run-down Munich district sports facility,” emphasizes the 62-year-old.

From 1998 to 2002 he coached the F and E youth in Ottenhofen: “A point of honor for every father, if he has a little knowledge of football and a football-loving son.” From 2002 to 2007, Ostermaier coached FC Moosinning in the District League North and almost rises in the first year.

In the decisive game, there was a 0: 6 clap against ASV Dachau.

"It was by far the worst defeat of my career," he recalls, "I probably did something wrong in the preparation and attitude of the team." In the last year of coaching in Moosinning his boys were in the table cellar, and there was a lot of people around them to feel a clear headwind.

But President Karl Thumbs sticks to Ostermaier, the FCM comes in sixth in the end.

The non-relegation party and his farewell at the Riff sports cafe remain unforgettable for him.

His last coaching station in 2012 is the DJK Ottenhofen: “A pure matter of the heart.” The first is bobbing in the middle of the B-Class, the second is “a pure Telekom team that only had to be called together from Thursday evening to Sunday lunchtime for the point games,” he says 62-year-olds with a smile.

He brings many Ottenhofen residents back home, especially from his former F-youth, who are now playing in the surrounding clubs.

The DJK promptly becomes champion twice in a row and is promoted to the district class.

Hike from one club to the next is not his thing: "I'm the constant type, 47 years of the same employer, 42 years of the same woman, 18 years of the same car." Socially, it used to be more hearty.

“Nowadays the players like to communicate digitally, we sat together half the night after games and were able to talk about the game for hours.

The players' women present had a tough lot at the time.

They never understood that you could talk for three or four hours in the club house over a game that lasted 90 minutes. "

Soon to be retired: “Not much will change there.

Only the boss becomes another "

The 62-year-old is still facing sporting challenges.

For example in summer, when he goes to work on his 15-year-old touring bike from Ottenhofen to Taufkirchen and thinks about whether he should drive up the mountain from Haselbach to Maierklopfen or rather push it.

“Up to now, I have booted up every time,” he emphasizes.

He enjoys going on city trips with Ms. Karin and often goes on bike tours lasting several days.

He also discovered his love for the garden.

Albert Ostermaier will retire at the end of the year.

“Not much will change there.

I will stay in the second management level, only the boss will be different, "he says with a laugh and adds:" If I stay fit and the pandemic actually ends at some point, I might take on a team again. "
