"I will recover at home": Tiger Woods begins his recovery, three weeks after his accident

2021-03-17T07:37:27.927Z

Golf superstar Tiger Woods, hospitalized since February 23, dates from car crash that seriously injured his right leg

In the early hours of February 23, Tiger Woods lost control of the car he was driving and rolled over several times on a steep and accident-prone road near Los Angeles.

The emergency services had to use a specialized tool and an ax to extract the 45-year-old star from his car, described as "lucid and calm" despite the perilous situation in which he found himself.

He was then evacuated to the Harbor-UCLA trauma center, located south of Los Angeles where he underwent extensive surgery, in particular for multiple open fractures in his right leg which required him to insert a metal rod into the tibia and screws to strengthen the bones of the foot and ankle.

“I am happy to report that I have returned home and that I am continuing my recovery there.

I am so grateful for the many supports and encouragement received over the past few weeks, "the golf superstar wrote on his Twitter account adding," Thank you to the amazing surgeons, doctors, nurses and staff at Harbor-UCLA and Cedars Medical Centers. -Sinaï, you all took great care of me and I cannot thank you enough.

I will recover at home and strive to get stronger each day.

More good news.

At the end of the investigation, the Los Angeles County Sheriff, responsible for investigating the accident, announced that Tiger Woods would not be prosecuted "for dangerous driving" when it was a " simple accident ”.

According to the investigator, there is "no evidence" to suggest that Woods was driving under the influence of drugs, drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.

It remains to be seen if the golf star will be able to find the greens?

"If he made a comeback as a golfer again, I think it would be really extraordinary," said former British champion Nick Faldo.

Woods is not, however, close to a comeback.

He has recovered from almost all injuries in his 25-year career, including multiple back operations, including arthrodesis, a painful fusion of vertebrae.

This had not prevented him in 2019, after eleven years of scarcity in Major, to win his 5th Masters of Augusta, his 15th Grand Slam, then to equal the same year the record for the number of titles on the PGA circuit ( 82) until then the sole property of Sam Snead.
