Schongau - EA Schongau put away well the home defeat during the week in the catch-up game against Buchloe (we reported).
Two days later the "Mammuts" fought for a 4-3 victory despite being behind twice against EHC Waldkraiburg.
"The boys showed their morals and played really well," said EAS coach Rainer Höfler, praising his team.
Schongau again had a few gaps in the squad, but were able to muster nine strikers and five defenders.
"We had the strong front row in Waldkraiburg under control," said Höfler.
For him that was the key to his fourth home win in the tenth game of the season in his own ice rink.
However, the duel between the neighbors in the table started very unfavorably for the EAS - with a 0: 1 after less than a minute.

EAS goalkeeper: First a blunder, then good actions
Immediately after the goal, the EAS keeper looked nervous, Höfler asked him if he wanted to continue catching, which the 21-year-old said yes. "He also kept some good things," said the coach. The people in front of Wieland quickly made up for the mistake. Mathias Müller (2nd) used the first Schongau opportunity to make it 1: 1. Afterwards it went back and forth at high speed. Waldkraiburg, however, was effective. Also with the first real scoring chance, the "Löwen" presented again a little later through Philip Lode (7th). The Schongauer tried a lot afterwards, but they lacked the necessary luck and precision at the end. That only changed in the middle section: In the first power play, Müller (26th) made it 2-2. The hit gave the "Mammoths" a boost, they went a little later through Florian Höfler (29.) in the lead for the first time. The joy about it only lasted for a short time. Just two minutes later, Johannes Hipetinger (31st) brought the guests back in line.
Subsequently, both teams fought a duel on equal terms. There were opportunities here and over there. But the goalkeepers could not be defeated. The home side's second outnumbered game shortly before the end of the third didn't bring any benefits. The “mammoths” were allowed to cheer at the beginning of the final round. With a pass from Höfler, Jason Lavallee (45th) scored 4: 3 with his 21st goal of the season. The Waldkraiburger then braced themselves against the impending defeat. The EAS defense was stable and did not allow much. Nevertheless, it remained exciting until the end, as the Schongauers left out a few options for decision.
