The German model luger Julia Taubitz had to bury her Olympic dream after a fall.

Now she gives a deep insight into her emotional world.

Beijing - She was considered the big gold favorite in luge at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

But Julia Taubitz fell in the second of four rounds shortly before the end in the infamous curve 13. The 25-year-old luger set a track record in the first run of her Olympic debut.

On the second day, Taubitz was about two seconds behind - worlds in tobogganing - and had to watch her teammates Natalie Geisenberger and Anna Berreiter battle it out for the win.

Despite the drama, after a sleepless night, she set the best time again in the fourth round - seventh place in the end.

After the race, Taubitz gave a deep insight into her emotional world.

It sounds like an Olympics nightmare, although the always cheerful sports soldier has already found her smile again.

Olympic nightmare: Julia Taubitz falls on gold course – "Everything broke at that moment"

“The night was quite difficult, I hardly slept and hardly ate anything.

I felt really dirty yesterday," revealed Julia Taubitz in a live broadcast with

Eurosport

on Tuesday evening.

"I never thought that sport could pull me into such a deep hole.

At that moment everything kind of broke.” The tobogganist from the WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal explained before the Olympics that tobogganing was a hobby for her that she had turned into a job.

"Before the last run, I said to myself, 'Have a nice run again so that you can leave the track in a forgiving manner,'" said Taubitz, who, despite her Olympic nightmare, set a best time on the ice track beforehand.

"Now a lot of people come to me and say, 'Hey, that's great, two best times.'

Mmh, you can't buy anything from it either, that wasn't the goal I set myself," explained the 25-year-old.

Olympic nightmare for Taubitz: emotional words from teammate

Taubitz received support from Dajana Eitberger, who had missed the Olympics due to a corona infection and a fall in training, and is now accompanying the winter games as a Eurosport expert in the studio.

"I can only tell you from the bottom of my heart to take your time and not limit your emotions.

Let it all out.

You have to work through it really well, otherwise it might slow you down a bit in the long run," said the 31-year-old, encouraging her colleague, who was six years her junior.

“I know that you are a very happy person and that you will come out of it stronger.

I'm really looking forward to competing against you and with you next year." Taubitz was visibly touched by her friend's encouraging words: "Thank you very much, that's nice."

Julia Taubitz: After the horror night at the Olympics, the "first beer is beheaded"

Taubitz can still enjoy the Olympic Winter Games after her failed competition and fall.

There are many encounters among the athletes in the Olympic Village, which makes everything “much more pleasant” despite Corona. “We were just sitting in the aisle and already had our first beer,” revealed Taubitz.

"That's why I was a bit late.

No, nonsense”, she continued and was already ready to joke again.

"I can't complain, I really liked it here," said Taubitz.

But already on Thursday (February 10th) she has to start her flight home.

The rules state that the athletes have to leave a day and a half after the competition.

Taubitz would like to stay longer in Beijing to watch other sporting events.

"I think it would be nicer if you could choose when to go home.

But that's the way it is."
