Chelsea dominate Palmeiras and offer their first Club World Cup

Ten years after their defeat in the final against the Brazilians of Corinthians (1-0), FC Chelsea won their first Club World Cup on Saturday.

The formation of Thomas Tuchel took the best at the end of the suspense on another Brazilian team, that of Palmeiras (2-1 ap) during the final disputed in the United Arab Emirates.

As we headed for a penalty shootout, Chelsea were awarded a penalty at the end of extra time following a handball in the box by Luan Garcia.

Striker Kai Havertz, who had already managed to score the only goal of victory last May in the Champions League final against Manchester City, converts the penalty and offers a new trophy to his team.

Earlier, Belgian striker Remelu Lukaku opened the scoring for England early in the second half before Brazilian Veiga equalized from a penalty.

“We are very happy with this victory, jubilant Kai Havertz.

It's been a great year for me.

I would like to thank my family who have always been of great support to me.

"We tried to make a difference throughout the game, we made a lot of effort and even led to the score... Finally, we managed to pass in front at the end, it's great", adds the German technician Thomas Tuchel.

International defensive midfielder N'Golo Kanté, who played all 120 minutes, adds a new trophy to his magnificent collection.

This success allows the London team to have won at least all the possible trophies on the national, continental and therefore global scene.

Roman Abramovich's club has won two Champions Leagues (2012 and 2021), two Cups (1971 and 1998), two Europa Leagues (2013 and 2019), two European Supercups (1998 and 2021) and therefore a first Club World Cup.

Only 3rd in the Premier League, Chelsea will play their next match next Saturday at Patrick Vieira's Crystal Palace before hosting Lille three days later at Stamford Bridge in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League (return match on March 16).
