Victim of a cardiac arrest during the Euro 2020 match against Finland, the Dane received, this Saturday, an ovation from the supporters of Brentford, his new club, eight months after his terrible accident.

Failing to play football again, Christian Eriksen was presented to Brentford supporters this Saturday at the reception of Crystal Palace.

It will be a great moment for world football when he steps onto the pitch to play.

We are happy he is with us, but we would have supported him no matter what club he was

at,” said Brenford manager Thomas Frank.

His Crystal Palace counterpart Patrick Vieira said it was a "

fantastic story

".

After seeing his contract with Inter Milan terminated, Eriksen found refuge in the Premier League and joined Brentford last month.

He, who is now equipped with an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD), will play a friendly match on Monday, but his debut with the west London club will not be long in coming if he wants to regain his form.

His new team's 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday did little to ease the club's relegation fears.

Brentford ended their long Premier League losing streak anyway the day new signing Christian Eriksen was introduced to the fans.
