Meppen hit the right post before the break (Al-Hazaimeh, 27') and later hit the bar twice (Fedl, Fassbender).
1860 needs a shin of the hosts to score at least one post hit (Fedl almost own goal, 48th), but had to be accused of not having bagged the victory with two "huge counterattack chances" (Köllner).
A diving header from Lex was cleared on the line (79') and after Biankadi was unable to ennoble a courageous Goden attack, fate took its course: Tankulic, Feigenspan - even the previously outstanding Marco Hiller was at Meppen's last-minute equaliser powerless.
"In the end, like against Braunschweig, we didn't do enough and didn't defend it consistently - that was the sticking point," commented realist Richard Neudecker, who had lifted the lions to the lead with a dream goal (24th): "In the end it's 1: 1 unfortunately deserved, one must say.
We were really lucky too.”
Köllner sees no freshness problem
It remains to be said that the lions should give out fewer gifts from now on if this is to become something with a serious involvement in the fight for promotion.
The city duel at Türkgücü on Wednesday is now of increased importance, which Köllner did not want to leave in this final state.
