The short-distance skater finished 17th in the 500-meter dash and finished his part in the Beijing Olympics

Vladislav Bikanov, the fast skater on the short track, finished his participation in the Winter Olympics in Beijing today (Sunday), after finishing in 17th place in the 500-meter competition, thus equaling his career-high ranking in the Olympic Games.

The 32-year-old Bikanov, for whom this is the third time at the Winter Olympics, jumped to the top of the fourth quarterfinals when he knew he had to finish in the top two, or in one of the two fastest times, among those ranked third.

In the end, the Israeli skater reached the third finish line, at the end of 41,157 seconds, and failed to advance to the next stage, when he screwed in 17th place, the same place where he also finished in the 1500 meters in China.

At the last Olympics in Pyongyang four years ago, Bikanov was ranked at the same end in 26th place and did not advance to the next stage, just as happened to him in Sochi 2014, where he finished in 19th place.

In the current games, the Israeli skater managed to reach the semifinals for the first time in his career, he did so in the 1500 meters.

During his long career, Bikanov reached his peak at the 2015 and 2018 European Championships where he won the gold medal in the non-Olympic 3,000 meters, with two more silver and 3 bronze medals in his balance at 1,500 meters.
