Hapoel Tel Aviv turned to DIP: "Unrestrained behavior of police officers" | Israel today

2022-02-22T14:58:54.150Z

Following the tragic events in Sami Ofer last night in which the team's fans were attacked by police forces, the Reds issued a scathing letter to investigate the events when a copy goes to the Minister of Internal Security and the Minister of Sports

After the difficult events between the police forces and Hapoel Tel Aviv fans, the club today (Tuesday) sent an official complaint to DIP, with a copy to the Minister of Internal Security, the Minister of Sports, the chairman of the Football Association and the chairman of the Football Leagues Administration. Rabbi Yaakov Shabtai will be responsible for investigating the events in Sami Ofer.

“From here we send reinforcements and a warm hug to the fans of the team who have been harmed by the unbridled violence of police officers.

The right of every person who was harmed by the violence last night to file a complaint with the DIP, in order to prosecute those police officers.

"Following the incident that took place last night at the football game at the Sami Ofer Stadium in Haifa, the Commissioner, Superintendent Yaakov Shabtai, appointed R. A.J.M. .

"This is a matter of this urgent appeal to you in extreme violent incidents that took place last night, immediately after the end of a football game held at the Haifa Municipal Football Stadium between Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Let's take a look back at the beginning - the evidence, photos, voices, stories and publications received (and continue to be received) from last night's events indicate violent, wrongful, unrestrained, illegal and unacceptable conduct by Israeli police officers.

Admittedly, the police may use the powers given to it, however, only in accordance with what is permitted by law (while subject to constitutional restrictions) and while preserving the rights of the individual.

The conduct of the police last night towards and against the fans of the Hapoel Tel Aviv football club (men, women and children) is light years away from legal conduct.

The evidence obtained by the club shows that the police actions against the dozens of fans of the club (who were physically injured) were carried out using illegal and unreasonable force.

It is inconceivable that police officers would physically harm innocent fans, for no injustice on their part, and in such a brutal way and it is inconceivable that those police officers are the ones who initiated illegal actions against normative citizens in a way that resulted in a violation of law and order.

It is not possible for the Israel Police to use and use unreasonable force without restriction and to exceed its authority without taking responsibility.

It is inconceivable that Israeli police officers - those in charge of law enforcement - would use the unlawful, unreasonable and disproportionate use of the power vested in them to exercise force - against a person, minor and material normative citizen, men, women, boys and children.

The photos, voices and videos speak for themselves - these are police officers who behaved in a reckless, brutal and rude manner against football fans who did not do a single thing in violation of any law and / or legal provisions.

In their conduct, the Israel Police not only violated the rules of conduct expected of a police officer, but also blatantly and clearly violated the laws of the country they are supposed to protect and which they are entrusted with (and trust) to preserve and enforce. .

In light of all the above, DIP is asked to thoroughly and exhaustively deal with the complaint and open a comprehensive investigation, both on the criminal level and on the disciplinary level. Video footage documenting a police officer hitting (kicking) a fan / boy (lone) who is lying on the floor of the bleachers (stairs) after being pushed by

Other policemen without any ability on the part of that person to defend his body, having already been arrested and apprehended.

In any case, the question arises why a young boy is required to protect his body from violence by a police officer of the Israel Police ?!

DIP officials have been tasked with the not-so-simple job of maintaining these values - and given the existing evidentiary basis it is imperative to open an investigation. On the environment, and it is prevented from using force not for the purpose for which it was entrusted to its hands. "
