Just before kick-off, the Burnley FC and Chelsea FC teams came together for a round of applause for Ukraine.
Together with the spectators, the teams wanted to express their solidarity for Ukraine.
You could also see Ukrainian flags in the stands.
This can currently be observed in many stadiums in Europe;
A week ago, Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine.
But according to observers, there was a provocative counter-protest before the Premier League match: Chelsea fans, write several local journalists, interrupted the solidarity campaign with chants for Roman Abramovich.
Burnley fans responded with boos.
Abramovich announced on Wednesday that he wants to sell the club after calls for sanctions against him grew louder in Britain.
The 55-year-old has become one of the richest people in the world thanks to Russian government contracts in the energy sector.
In a statement from the club, the billionaire said he believed the decision was in the best interests of the club, fans, employees and club sponsors.
As Abramovich said, he will not demand loan repayments.
The possible net profit should benefit the victims of the war in Ukraine via a foundation.
Abramovich took over Chelsea in 2003, under his leadership the club experienced the most successful years in its history.
China renounces the Premier League
The solidarity action for Ukraine in the Premier League had already been announced in advance - with consequences.
The Chinese TV rights holder for the Premier League is reportedly not broadcasting the games at the weekend.
