FC Bayern is in the quarter-finals thanks to a show of force. Lewandowski needed eleven minutes for a hat trick – and became his opponent's nightmare. And then there were slips of the tongue with Leipzig.

Maximilian Wöber falls to Robert Lewandowski: An evening to forget

When Salzburg could still dream:

Third minute, the ball comes to Nicolas Capaldo, who takes aim – but Kingsley Coman, who has hurried back, puts his leg between them.

Shortly thereafter, it is Nicolas Seiwald who shoots at Bayern goal from a few meters - this time Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer deflected the ball over the crossbar.

15 minutes were played, Salzburg was still in the game.

But not for long.

The result:

The Munich team won 7:1 (4:0), after just 23 minutes the team was three goals ahead.

The first leg ended 1-1, FC Bayern is in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Read the match report here.

Three in eleven:

He had gone three games without a goal, now Robert Lewandowski has scored three times in eleven minutes.

First, he converted two penalties (12th minute/21st/23rd), both times he had previously been fouled.

Then it got strange: An attempt by Salzburg keeper Philipp Köhn landed on Lewandowski's leg, jumped from there to the post, and the Bayern striker followed up - 3:0.

Used evening:

Robert Lewandowski's joy was Maximilian Wöber's sorrow.

The 24-year-old defender was assigned as an opponent for the Bayern star – a plan that didn't work out.

Wöber first fouled Lewandowski in the penalty area, then on the edge of the penalty area (the referee converted the original free-kick whistle into a penalty kick).

And for the third goal of Poland Wöber was rather suboptimal.

FC Bayern isn't just Lewandowski:

it wasn't a Munich one-man show against Salzburg, other Bayern players were also able to celebrate scoring.

Serge Gnabry scored the 4-0 (his shot slipped under the arm of Salzburg keeper Köhn), Thomas Müller scored in the second half to make it 5-0 and was then even successful a second time.

Leroy Sané scored the seventh goal that evening from close range.

A counter goal is always possible:

Maurits Kjaergaard clenched his fist and wiped his mouth briefly.

Sure, too much cheering was no longer the order of the day when a goal made it 1:5.

Nevertheless: The goal of the 18-year-old was particularly nice, the ball hit the corner powerfully.

Bayern have only kept two clean sheets in their last ten games.

Returnee Neuer, who was back in the Bayern goal after knee surgery, was probably hoping for a comeback without a goal.

Salzburg, Leipzig – the main thing is RB!

Sometimes you can also get confused in the shower construct that has been built up in recent years between New York, Salzburg, Leipzig, Brazil and elsewhere.

This was the case for Amazon expert Michael Ballack as well as co-commentator Benedikt Höwedes, both of whom spoke of opponents "Leipzig".

The Bundesliga club was eliminated without a point after the group stage.

Outlook:

Munich will not continue in the premier class until the beginning of April.

Who will be the opponent will be decided in the draw on March 18th.

So far, only Liverpool FC has been identified as a possible opponent.

But, one can say that much, it shouldn't be as clear as this evening for FC Bayern again this Champions League season.
