While the two men are heard on appeal in the context of the trial on a case of sale of TV rights to Fifa, the Swiss prosecution

Judged on appeal since Monday by the Federal Criminal Court of Bellinzona (Switzerland), the prosecution requested this Tuesday evening 28 months in prison against Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of BeIN Media Group and PSG.

For Jérôme Valcke, the required sentence is heavier.

35 months against the former number 2 of Fifa.

Contrary to the judgment at first instance, in the fall of 2020, federal prosecutor Cristina Castellote did not request any partial reprieve in addition to the sentence.

The requisition of the prosecution is similar, in terms of penalties, to that of the judgment in first instance.

In 2020, the two men were acquitted, which prompted the Swiss federal court to appeal.

The two men are heard for a case of sale of TV rights.

In 2013, the Frenchman Jérôme Valcke, then leader of Fifa, had monetized his support for the BeIN channel, chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, in exchange for a Villa up to 5 million euros.

In 2014, the former number 2 of the international body, landed in 2015 following a corruption case, sought the help of the Qatari leader for his villa, in exchange for television rights for the 2026 World Cups. and 2030 (Middle East and North Africa zone).

This had been qualified as a bribe by the magistrates at the time.

After an agreement with the president of the Parisian club, Fifa had however withdrawn its complaint in 2020, which prevented the criminal court from qualifying the agreement between Valcke and Al-Khelaïfi in this way.

Today, the prosecutor qualified as pure speculation the argument which had been used to acquit the two men in 2020, according to which “there was nothing to indicate that Fifa would have had a more advantageous contract without this agreement made in 2014”.

The hearing will continue on Wednesday with the defense arguments.
