After a heated vaccination debate: Joshua Kimmich probably vaccinated against Corona

Joshua Kimmich had announced that he wanted to wait for an inactivated vaccine.

The FC Bayern player has now been vaccinated against Corona.

Kassel – At first he was tormented by concerns, but now the star of FC Bayern Munich has probably decided to be vaccinated against the corona virus.

At a team meeting in early March, Kimmich is said to have presented proof of vaccination, as reported by the Bild newspaper.

An official confirmation of the footballer is still pending.

FC Bayern has not yet commented on the vaccination status of its middle and defender.

In the past, the club had clearly stood behind Kimmich*.

According to reports in the Bild newspaper, his teammates are presumably already informed.

Kimmich is said to have eliminated the doubts in the team.

Because the Bayern star had already had a corona infection *, he is now considered to be basic immunized.

The footballer had spoken out against vaccination for a long time, Kimmich had stated that he was waiting for a dead corona vaccine*.

His football career suffered as a result.

Kimmich had to be quarantined twice after he had contact with infected people as an unvaccinated person.

Then it hit the competitive athlete himself. A subsequent corona infection made Kimmich miss a total of six league games.

But the FC Bayern player was lucky, the infection was mild.

Nevertheless, Kimmich struggled with lung problems* even after his recovery.

His return to the team and training was delayed.

Kimmich later stated to ZDF that he had already decided to get vaccinated at the time of the infection.

The FC Bayern player's vaccination status had repeatedly led to heated debates after the 27-year-old had told the Sky TV channel that he "personally still had a few concerns, especially with regard to the lack of long-term studies".

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach* (SPD) also spoke out in the subsequent vaccination debate.

Lauterbach had offered Kimmich to vaccinate him personally against Corona * – including an explanation, as the minister explained to the magazine Bunte.

After Kimmich announced in December last year that he would be vaccinated, the Minister of Health also backtracked.

"That's great, I never judged him.

The body is his capital, he was afraid of that," said the SPD politician.

For footballer Joshua Kimmich, however, the vaccination debate is now taking a back seat.

The athlete becomes a father for the third time.

In order to be able to attend the birth in Munich, Kimmich is not yet training with the national team, which is preparing for the international test matches against Israel and the Netherlands in Frankfurt.
