They're always there, the scandal pros.

Whether during or after their stay at HSV – these “bad boys” made headlines.

Hamburg - Everyone knows him, everyone fears him.

That one teammate who always pushes the limit in duels.

Without regard to losses.

The one who blames everyone but himself for defeat.

In professional football, too, it happens again and again that players want to force an early change, skip training sessions, throw kebabs at passers-by or find themselves in a wild fight in a discotheque after binge drinking.

Hamburger SV* has had such candidates in the squad for the past few decades.

Drugs, slaps, fights: HSV already had some scandal professionals and "bad boys" under contract

But what actually characterizes a real “bad boy”?

A real "bad boy" has an oversized sense of self-esteem, always puts his own abilities ahead of those of his teammates, rarely if ever admits to himself that he made mistakes, and does not deal particularly well with rebukes and set boundaries.

HSV has contracted some scandalous professionals and “bad boys” in the past.

Among others, Walace, Emir Spahic and Mustafa Kucukovic (from left).

Many HSV fans associate the name Rafael van der Vaart with a very successful era at HSV, which ended for the Dutchman after a short six-year break.

Most recently, Rafael van der Vaart did not trust HSV to rise*.

The Dutchman only caused a scandal when he wanted to force a move to FC Valencia and had himself photographed with a jersey from the Spanish club.

A real ufregerA at the time, but now forgiven by the HSV fans for his loyalty and love for the club.

Other HSV players have more earned the “bad boy” image.

The name Emir Spahic should still be known to many HSV supporters years after his time with the Rothosen.

During his time at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, he headbutted a steward.

After his move to HSV, there is said to have been an argument with teammates and ex-HSVer Josip Drmic in March 2016, in which Spahic is said to have even slapped him.

Before that, the same should have happened with Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who might return to HSV at some point *.

Hamburger SV then separated from the Bosnian.

Spahic, Kucukovic, Wallace and Co.: Scandal professionals were not uncommon at HSV in the past

A few weeks ago, a former HSV jewel attracted attention.

From 2004 to 2007, a young talent named Mustafa Kucukovic had the chance to become a big player in Hamburg*.

But contrary to all expectations, it was not successful.

The Bosnian only made the headlines 15 years later.

However, they have less to do with football and professional sports.

Ex-HSV talent Mustafa Kucukovic has to go to prison for four and a half years – for drug possession*.

It is unimaginable what path the talented kicker took in his life and thus, although only after his career at HSV, became a real “scandal professional”.

Another kicker who was active for HSV is the Brazilian Wallace.

This was not particularly clear to the changes of the many coaches in recent years.

The coach at the time, Christian Titz, wanted the now 26-year-old Brazilian to play in defence, but Walace didn't see that and instead offered to help from the bench in midfield.

After that he was no longer used.

He also came back late from vacation in Brazil.

Not a real "bad boy" - but still enough to cause a scandal.

There was also unrest recently under the current HSV coach Tim Walter.

Loan Dane Mikkel Kaufmann was suspended because he was late for training too often.

Kaufmann then shared clearly after the HSV suspension *.

However, the situation in Hamburg as far as scandal professionals and "bad boys" are concerned has eased in recent years.

The team appears as one and the reserve players such as Manuel Wintzheimer and Jan Gyamerah, who could always leave HSV in the summer*, are also part of the team coached by Tim Walter.
