A victory and a record!
Last night was good for Evan Fournier.
While living a sometimes frustrating first season in the mythical jersey of the New York Knicks – where he is often the target of criticism from demanding supporters of the Big Apple – the French international offered himself a beautiful moment of joy.
He even definitely entered the history books of his franchise.
A few weeks after breaking his record for points in a match (41 units), the 29-year-old fullback, author of 12 points including 4 out of 10 from 3 points, took advantage of his team's wide success in Charlotte (121- 106) in the night from Wednesday to Thursday to seize an old record.

By scoring his 218th award-winning basket of the season, the Frenchman became the franchise's best long-range scorer in the regular season.
He is one unit ahead of John Starks, whose record (217 3-point shots in the regular season) dates back to… 1995. At the time, Fournier was barely 3 years old!
Evan Fournier, however reluctant to comment on his performance, did not hide his emotion at the end of the evening!
“I feel a lot of emotions, reacted the interested party after the match for the New York Post.
I am proud, happy.
I have only one regret: not getting this record at home.
It would have been really amazing.
I am grateful for all the assists I received from my teammates.
The guys who put me in a position to break the record.
The fact that it's such an important and historic franchise, to take the record from John Starks, a famous guy, a famous player.
It's hard to put into words exactly how I feel, but I'll call my friends and my parents.
It's gonna be a big night.

Shortly after, the Olympic vice-champion with the Blues in Tokyo posted a message for his fans on social networks.
"I've never been a record holder, but I feel humbled tonight to hold one in such an iconic franchise.
Thank you to my teammates for all the great passes and to all the fans who tell me to shoot every time I touch the ball.

Many Knicks players congratulated him on social media.
Among them, Starks himself who, in a video, sent him a message.
A consolation for this born competitor – out of disappointment he had put away his bronze medal in his sock after the small final at the 2019 World Cup – who will be able to improve his record by the end of the regular season.
On the other hand, the one who has signed up for 4 years with the Knicks will probably have to wait a little longer to play in the playoffs and beat new records there with his franchise.
The Knicks are currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference and no longer appear to be in the running for the finals.
