A few days ago the Netherlands was in pain following the news that the national team coach - Louis van Gaal - announced that he had prostate cancer.
The 71-year-old veteran coach has announced that he has hidden the news from his players that he did not want them to face it and he very much hopes he can stand on the lines during the World Cup in Qatar this coming November.
This morning (Wednesday), the Dutch association officially announced that after the World Cup and provided Van Hal's condition does not deteriorate, Ronald Koeman will return to the position he left for Barcelona in the summer of 2020. Koeman's contract will take effect in January 2023 and last until 2026. In 2026 to be held in Canada, USA and Mexico.

Before leaving for Barcelona to fulfill his dream of coaching the team where he also spent his great days as a player, Koeman rehabilitated the Dutch national team after failing to qualify for Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup and recorded 11 wins, 5 draws and four losses in 20 games.
"When I left the team a year and a half ago, it was not from dissatisfaction," said Koeman, "the results were good and there was a good connection with the players, we will soon continue on this path."
