In the house of his own father-in-law, Sepp Fischer, Anton Bauer threatened revolution.

That was in 1986, and Vice Dietmar Fischer can still remember it well.

Lengdorf

– The deputy head of football department at FC Lengdorf told the story on Tuesday evening in the FC Lengdorf clubhouse.

There, where an era ended, because after 22 years the 67-year-old gave up his position as head of the football department.

His successor is Florian Thieme, 27 years old and himself a player in the Lengdorf district league team.

The change did not come as a surprise.

Bauer announced it a long time ago.

He has certainly served enough time.

Already in 1973 he was secretary of the FCL board.

In 1986 he pushed for the footballers to be organized as a separate department in the main club, which would otherwise have organized themselves independently.

That's how it was back then, remembers Dietmar Fischer, whose father Franz was chairman at the time.

The restructuring actually took place.

Bauer also assumed responsibility as head of department.

With an interim career-related break, he now managed the division for 22 years and made the Lengdorf footballers what he and his fellow campaigners set themselves as a goal at the time and Dietmar Fischer put it this way: "one of the most renowned clubs in the district".

How well the department is currently doing is documented by the officials in the association with numbers.

According to Bauer, the department had 371 members as of January 1, 2022, compared to 339 the year before. "And now we have around 15 new passport applications," reported the outgoing football boss.

Girls' football in particular is booming.

The department is also doing well financially.

Stefan Ortner read the report from cashier Manfred Pointner.

Accordingly, in the period between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021, the department posted income of around 44,100 euros and spent around 30,200 euros, making a profit of almost 13,900 euros.

Cash position as of June 30, 2021: around 23,000 euros.

In terms of sport, the footballers experienced bitter times, because they were twice the victims of the corona-related end of the season.

As reported, the men missed promotion to the district league because of too many goals conceded.

The women were relegated to the district league.

The time after that wasn't easy either, but the sports directors Mathias Holzner and Venja Quast looked to the future with hope (report to follow).

So did Bauer, who wants to travel more with his wife and is looking forward to visiting his grandchildren who live in London.

He assured: "I've been active for decades and will continue to be there if you need me." The footballers thanked them with a standing ovation.

Bauer said to his successors: "The FCL should always be a club that inspires people with its sporting successes, but also with its appearance."

Although his unanimously elected successor is 40 years younger, he hardly differs in his goals.

Club life has always been important to him, says the mechanical engineering programmer, who trains the C youth himself and plays as a six or central defender in the first team.

You want to remain a stable district league.

The conditions for this are good, “because nothing will change in terms of personnel”.

In addition, talented people from the youth would come with players like Maxi Mayer.

But the 27-year-old is also thinking about the sports facility.

Heating, cabin rooms - you have to think about a renovation.

A sprinkler system is to be purchased for the main square in order to relieve the active groundskeeper Xaver Empl a little.

Thieme emphasizes that youth work is particularly important to him.

However, there is still the biggest construction site at the moment, because no successor has yet been found for the outgoing youth leader Ralf Mayer.

Dietmar Fischer is now taking over on an interim basis (report to follow).
