Colombia has not stopped crying since this morning (Thursday), with the publication of the bitter news of the death of former footballer Freddie Rincon at the age of 55, two days after he was involved in a serious car accident.

Rincon, who was also involved in a not-so-minor car accident in 2013 when he overturned with a truck and needed surgery due to fractures and a head injury, this time was driving in the city of Cali in Colombia and collided with a bus with four other passengers in his vehicle.

All the occupants of the vehicle were injured, but it seems that Rincon suffered the most serious injury of all, and as stated, after a 48-hour struggle over his life, his doctors were forced to determine his death.

"Colombia will remember Freddie forever. Condolences to his family and friends following his tragic death," Marinkon said in an official statement at the Colombian Football Association.

Rincon was the star of the Colombia national team in the 90s.

He qualified with her for three consecutive World Cups, scored 17 goals in 84 appearances and was a partner in several top football shows.

He spent most of his career in South America, his country and Brazil, but there were also two unsuccessful outings to Europe, Naples and Real Madrid.
