After five days of competition and ten cruises, Israeli Shai Kakon leads today (Wednesday) the European ILCA6 (Laser Radial) Boat Championship, which takes place in Hortin, France, all one day before the end.
Throughout the five days of the competition, Cacon has maintained stability, finishing most of the cruises in the top ten.
For the first three days, Kakon retained third place overall, but yesterday took advantage of mistakes by its Spanish rivals to move up to first place.
Even today, the fifth day of the competition, Cacon kept the lead, with two cruises in which she finished in 5th and 2nd places.
Before the last two cruises tomorrow, Cacon is 15 points ahead of the Cypriot, who is in second place, and 44 points ahead of the Spanish fleet.
On the other hand, the score accumulated in each cruise is derived from the position, and since about 60 cruises participate in the competition, everything is still open, and Kakon will have to maintain good positions tomorrow to secure the podium.
19-year-old Shai Kakon represented Israel at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year, where she finished in 30th place.
Due to her young age she is eligible to participate in both the senior and youth championships (U21).
Cacon is training with Italian coach Fabrizio Lazrini.
