+++ UPDATE +++

Round 28/63:

What is actually doing Lewis Hamilton?

The seven-time champion will have to take criticism after the race - while team-mate Russell has made a strong move up to P5, the Brit is languishing in 14th place.

He can't get past Gasly in front.

That will piss him off the most.

Round 24/63:

Mick Schumacher is out!

Man, that's bitter for Schumi-Junior.

He wants too much, brakes too late and races across the grass.

As a result, he loses control of the car, spins and has to park the car.

It's not his first driving mistake this season.

Round 22/63:

Leclerc pushes like crazy.

Championship leader wants to get past Perez!

But so far he has successfully defended himself.

Vettel made up the next position and is now in seventh place.

Strong performance so far from him in the defeated Aston Martin.

Round 20/63:

All drivers were now in the pits.

Leclerc comes out of the pits just before Perez, but the Mexican immediately grabs the Ferrari again because his tires are already up to temperature.

No changes at the top!

Lap 19/63:

Leclerc is now on Perez, but he turns into the pit lane!

Almost everyone is now switching to dry tires, but Leclerc stays outside.

Was that a mistake?

Lap 18/63:

taillight Daniel Ricciardo is the first to try the slicks.

Does it pay off?

If so, he will quickly find imitators.

Round 16/63:

Russell and Bottas passed Magnussen, who now has some problems.

Verstappen and Perez drive away in front without any problems, the Red Bulls have about the same pace as Leclerc.

The weather situation is exciting: on the one hand, the intermediates are getting less and less, on the other hand, it's supposed to rain again soon.

Round 15/63:

Mick Schumacher struggles at the end of the field.

Due to his mishap in the first lap, he was thrown back a long way, but he can still make up a few places.

The race is still long - and teammate Magnussen shows what the Haas is capable of in fifth place!

Lap 13/63:

Fernando Alonso has to park the car, a damaged wing forces the veteran to give up.

Round 9/63:

Mercedes driver George Russell drives a fabulous race.

He is already sixth and is now chasing Haas driver Magnussen in fifth place.

It's a surprise that the Dane is so far up the field.

Strong race from him too!

Lap 6/63:

Leclerc passes Norris on the straight, is now third and starts chasing the Red Bulls!

Vettel also got off to a good start, the man from Heppenheim slipped from 13th place to 9th place. Rain conditions are known to be his specialty.

Schumacher is fighting his way up the field and is currently in 16th place. The track is drying out, but dry tires still make no sense.

Another rain shower is to come.

Round 4/63:

The safety car is outside.

The restart is getting closer, for Red Bull the race is going exactly according to plan so far.

This is how Verstappen imagined it.

He is leading and has a buffer with teammate Perez behind him.

Leclerc will take on Norris.

Lap 1/63: Verstappen makes a great start, the world champion pulls straight away.

Leclerc can't follow, the Monegasse messed up the start.

Perez and Norris pass!

In the first corner it gets very bitter for Ferrari and Carlos Sainz - the Spaniard is out!

It's not his fault, Daniel Ricciardo clears him off the track.

Mick Schumacher also got off to a bad start.

When accelerating out of the first corner, he struggles with oversteer, briefly goes off the track, but is still able to save the car.

The German slips to 17th place.

The points have come a long way!

BEGIN!

The race is on.

2:59 p.m .:

The cars are on the formation lap, more rain is expected in 20 to 25 minutes.

Chaos pre-programmed!

The tifosi create a lot of atmosphere, bengalos are ignited.

Dinner is served.

Update, 2:56 p.m .:

The cars are ready!

Max Verstappen is on pole, Charles Leclerc will chase him from second place.

Guanyu Zhou will be the last to start from the pit lane due to a penalty.

All cars will start with intermediate tyres, the track is still wet.

Update, 2:48 p.m .:

The tension is rising!

The lights will go out in about ten minutes.

The golden rule for the drivers on the first laps is: stay on the track.

Spectacle in the first laps is actually guaranteed today.

Now the Italian national anthem sounds.

Update from April 24, 2:26 p.m .:

There is a risk of rain chaos in Imola!

One thing is already clear: This will not be an easy race for the drivers.

The track is wet, all cars will probably start with rain tires.

At the moment it is no longer raining, so it is possible that dry tires will be used during the course of the race.

But the rain can come back at any time, the clouds over Emilia-Romagna are dark.

It's going to be a grab bag!

Safety car driver Bernd Mayländer is prepared for deployments - it's relatively likely that he'll have to take action today given the conditions.

“Anything is possible, from interruptions to the abandonment of the race,” he predicted in a Sky interview before the race.

Formula 1: Imola race in the live ticker – Verstappen grabs pole

First report from April 24th:

Imola – Max Verstappen took his sprint victory from Imola (read it here in the live ticker) almost routinely, Charles Leclerc bravely waved to the Ferraristi after his narrow defeat.

World champion Verstappen disturbed the Scuderia party in Imola, at least in the short race over 100 km - and in addition to eight world championship points, he also secured first place for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday (3 p.m. / RTL and Sky) in front of the world championship leader secured from Monaco.

"It will definitely be different tomorrow," said Verstappen, who was victorious for the second time in the fourth sprint in Formula 1 history: "In the end, Charles' tires wore off and I was able to start my maneuver." Leclerc, who continues with 78 points confidently leading the drivers' standings, consoled himself: "It's still a start from the front row."

Formula 1: Imola race in the live ticker - Verstappen or Leclerc?

Exciting duel for victory

Ex-world champion Sebastian Vettel finished 13th in the Aston Martin and missed his first points of the season, as did Mick Schumacher im Haas, who finished tenth.

"There was nothing more possible," said Vettel on Sky: "It's bitter when you lose so many places and are literally eaten up." The Heppenheimer had started the sprint from ninth place.

The short race was also without anything countable for series constructors' world champion Mercedes: record champion Lewis Hamilton did not get past 14th place, his new teammate George Russell (both England) crossed the finish line in eleventh place.

In the duel for the world championship, a hot fight should break out again between Verstappen and Leclerc.

Mick Schumacher has ten best chances of scoring points for the first time.

For Sebastian Vettel, this endeavor tends to be more difficult.

We will accompany the race from 3 p.m. here in the live ticker.
