This news comes as a surprise.

Erding – The ice hockey department of TSV Erding and the full-time junior coach Stefan Teufel are now going their separate ways.

"Accordingly and at the request of both parties," says the press release.

"Both parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the separation." Both sides did not even want to say who initiated the separation.

Teufel has been under contract with TSV since 2018 - after having been BEV state coach for 25 years.

"A termination agreement was signed, and a solution that was fair for both sides was found," he notes.

"I can reconcile the decision one hundred percent with my conscience." Born in the Upper Palatinate, he worked as a part-time youth coach in Erding in the mid-1990s, then for many years at EHC Klostersee before he returned to the TSV coaching team - full-time since 2018.

"I don't want to comment further on the matter for the benefit of the club and I also don't want any burden, guilt or annoyance to come to Erdinger Eishockey, it's too important to me for that," says the 57-year-old Teufel and states: "I put a lot of time and commitment into it." And once again he expressly emphasizes: "I don't want the separation to come across negatively and for the club or Erdinger ice hockey to suffer any damage."

Gladiators spokesman David Whitney once again expressly praised the outgoing coach.

"Stefan has been responsible for the development of all youth teams since 2018, from the running kids to the Erdinger U20 team," he says.

"In the past season, the club was certified with three stars by the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) for its youth work in the five-star program." He does not want to go into the reasons for the separation and refers to the press release: "We have agreed that we say nothing."

The second full-time coach, Florian Zimmermann, is taking over the entire junior team for the time being. Summer training will start next week.

"But of course we are already looking for a replacement for Stefan Teufel," says Whitney.

The ex-coach calmly answered the question about his future.

"I'll let it run for now and wait," says the 57-year-old.

"I have time and wait and see what offers I get."

The youth management of the TSV was not available for comment yesterday.
