The Schongau volleyball players had to compete for the last day of the game with a weak replacement.

The team didn't let that deter them - in the end there was a historic result.

Weil/Schongau – The volleyball players from TSV Schongau had put themselves in such a good starting position – and then this: on the last day of the district class 2 match, when it was about the championship title, the team had to do without several players from the regular cast.

Injury, illness, other appointments - according to team spokeswoman Karin Riedl, the reasons for the absences were varied.

On top of that, the team was still challenged: Four points from the games against Lechrain Volleys II and TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld were required to overtake TSG Maisach, who was not playing, in the long-distance duel.

The Schongau women finally overcame all the hurdles.

With a 3:0 over Lechrain and a 3:2 against Karlsfeld they made the title perfect.

TSV Schongau gets five points - and makes the title perfect

This represents a special success for the TSV division: Because the championship and thus the right to direct promotion to the district league west "has not yet been achieved in the history of the Schongau volleyball department," says Riedl.

The TSV women had definitely earned the title, only two games were lost during the season.

The season was badly affected by the corona pandemic.

Six teams withdrew from the original twelve teams (partly during the late season);

this also included TSV Steingaden.

The games that were not played were each scored 3:0 in favor of the remaining teams.

In the end, all participants came up with 22 games.

The Schongau women won the game against the hosts Lechrain Volleys II quite clearly with 3:0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:16).

In the first round, TSV was immediately in the game - effective attacks and strong blocks ensured a clear result.

In the second set, the Schongau women made some mistakes.

But they made up for it with a safe acceptance and good attacks.

In the third round, the guests couldn't take the victory away either.

After the first two sentences, the title was perfect

The game against the Karlsfeld women was much more exciting.

At 3: 2 (26:24, 25:14, 17:25, 17:25, 15:11) the Schongau women made everything clear prematurely in terms of "championship".

After the two sets won at the start, the important fourth point on this matchday was already sealed.

At this point, Schongau and Maisach were tied on points, the sentence ratio spoke in favor of TSV.

At the beginning of the first round, the Schongau women had their problems.

The title aspirant couldn't cope with the way the Karlsfeld women played, against whom they had lost 3-1 in the first half of the season.

"Inconsistencies and mistakes were the result," reported Riedl.

TSV only gradually adjusted to the opponent, the result was a race to catch up, which ended successfully thanks to a certain nerve of steel during the decisive rallies.

In the second set, the Schongau women pulled away.

In the end, they had some difficulties converting the two missing points, but there was no tension due to the clear lead.

The championship was done perfectly - this apparently led to a drop in tension.

In the third round, Schongau acted "suddenly uncertain and unfocused," said Riedl.

The sentence went to Karlsfeld.

In the fourth round, the Schongau women were not very effective either, so Eintracht forced the tie-break.

There, the Schongau women were back in full force and immediately gained a lead.

With now again clear actions they decided the game for themselves.

Squad TSV Schongau:

On the last day of the game, the following were in action for Schongau: Catherina Hack, Daniela Hübl, Nicole Schmidt, Ellen Frütel, Karin Riedl, Johanna Braun, Katharina Schmid and Patricia Gast.

Verena Mettig, Katharina Braun, Angela Konstantin, Giovanna Di Garbo, Rosa Kraus and Julia Krötz also played during the season.
