German Olympic silver medalist marries: He is celebrated by teammates - but one is missing

The German ski jumper Stephan Leyhe got married and his teammates were guests.

The Olympic silver and bronze medalist went on a "honeymoon" afterwards.

Willingen - After a successful winter sports season, the next good news for Stephan Leyhe follows even in the summer break.

It was only in Beijing that he was able to win the bronze medal with the team at the 2022 Olympic Games, his second Olympic medal after team silver in Pyeongchang in 2018. Now he has married his Jaqueline.

His teammates were also guests - and cheered him on, as photos on social media show.

Leyhe was born in Hessen, but his marriage took place in Willingen.

The 30-year-old ski jumper said yes to his girlfriend in May 2022 and there was a lot on offer in the town of over 6,300 inhabitants.

The entire German ski jumping elite was a guest.

And they insisted on cheering their colleagues.

Admittedly, lifting a ski jumper shouldn't be a great art, but it still made for a nice photo that Karl Geiger showed on Instagram.

Also in the picture were Andreas Wellinger, Constantin Schmid and Severin Freund.

With Schmid, Markus Eisenbichler and Geiger, Leyhe won the bronze medal in an exciting team competition in Beijing in February.

As reported by the HNA, national coach Stefan Horngacher was also invited and present.

But where is actually teammate Eisenbichler?

Wasn't he invited?

Is there a dispute in the DSV team?

Did he oversleep the photo?

No, everything was harmless, "Eisei" - as he is also called - was unable to come on business and couldn't come.

As Leyhe himself shows, the newly married couple was greeted in a trellis by young ski jumpers from the area.

After the wedding, the couple spent a couple of nice "honey days", as Leyhe himself described it, in Greece.

In the north-east of the Greek island there were two days "that you will never forget".

Otherwise, as is well known, Leyhe flies alone through the air.

But from now on he always has his wife with him on cloud nine.
