The last game of the season for the BCF women (in red) against Murnau was contested.

A 2:3 defeat means that the women in Wolfratshausen are relegated to the district league.

It was a game of fate - and all the footballers at BCF Wolfratshausen were aware of that.

"Maybe we were too tense," says trainer Tobias Bernwieser.

Wolfratshausen

– With a win against TSV Murnau, his team would have kept the state league.

After the 2:3 (1:2) defeat in front of their home crowd, the Farcheterinnen have to go into the district league - despite a catch-up race at the end of the season, which aroused great hopes of staying up in the league.

The guest took the lead early on in the Isar-Loisach-Stadion (8th minute) and could have made it 2-0 with a little more luck.

"We had problems getting into the game," says Bernwieser, who cites his students' nervousness as a possible reason.

In the first half, however, his team showed the qualities that had led to six games in a row without defeat (five of them wins) in the final spurt of the season.

The Farcheter offensive created a wealth of scoring chances - but without success for a long time: Sometimes the ball hissed just past the goal, banged against the post or flew over the crossbar from a central position.

The BCF women didn't let up: After about 30 minutes, Maren Hamm pushed the ball past Murnau's keeper to equalize, shortly afterwards (34th) Lena Jocher scored to give Farcheter the lead.

In the final phase, the hard-fought game changed.

Murnau was particularly in charge after counterattacks, and the busy Annika Doppler came up with several actions.

"We just couldn't get them under control," says Bernwieser.

The woman from Murnau used her chances twice, from which the BCF never recovered.

After three years in the state league, the club now has to go back down to the district league.

"Of course it hurts," says Bernwieser, "especially because the girls have fought back so madly in the past few weeks."

Despite all the disappointment, the trainer would like to look ahead: The BCF wants to play a good role again in the district league.

At the moment it looks like the squad will stay together for the most part.

According to Bernwieser, there is no concrete departure for the coming season.

He hopes it stays that way: "In the past few weeks, the team has repeatedly shown what it's made of and what it can achieve," he says.

"We want to bring that back to the pitch next season - right from the start, then we can attack at the top and gain a sense of achievement.
