The coach was convicted of three offenses in which he attacked the complainant, including: hitting her with a punch in front of her, as a result of which she was seriously injured in the face.

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court has sentenced a football coach to nine months of community service, after he was convicted in several cases of assaulting his wife.

At the sentencing stage, senior figures from the football industry came to court to testify in his favor.

The judge, who even ordered him to compensate the complainant with NIS 3,000, stated in the sentence that: "It cannot be ignored that the defendant did not express genuine remorse, internalization, taking responsibility or empathy towards the complainant."

According to the indictment, the defendant was convicted of committing three counts of assaulting a spouse, and one count of intentional damage to property.

In the first incident, after an argument that took place at night, the defendant attacked the complainant in the apartment by pushing her against the wall, as well as smashing the complainant's iPad and iPhone.

In the second incident, the defendant who attacked his wife in the apartment was convicted of grabbing her face and baking hard with both hands, and in the third incident he was convicted of assaulting her by lying on her and not letting her move, and also grabbed her hands and feet and punched her in the face.

The prosecution demanded an actual prison sentence because in this case it is a matter of serious circumstances, and serious violent offenses, which justify the determination of a penalty compound as she requested - since the defendant did not take responsibility for his actions.

On the other hand, the defense counsel petitioned for the annulment of the defendant's conviction, argued that the defendant's case met the required conditions and referred to the ruling.

In this context, he also referred to the words of Nissim Bachar, arguing that according to his testimony, any sexual offense or violence would probably not allow the defendant to continue membership in the Football Association, by virtue of the Football Association's bylaws and coaches' bylaws. And make a living because his right to work as a football coach will be denied, and he will no longer be a partner as the director of a football academy.

The court did not accept the defense's request to quash the conviction, and the recent sentence stated that in light of the defendant's characteristics and circumstances of the case, there is no reason to grant the request for revocation of the conviction, even if evidence was presented that concrete damage could be caused to the defendant.

"Domestic violence offenses, including the offenses for which the defendant was convicted, come to protect paramount social values concerning the importance of maintaining the safety, security, body and soul of the spouse, in this case the complainant who was the defendant's wife for more than 25 years."
