"Washington should have forced Danny Abdia to play in the summer league"

Wizards reporters discussed the Israeli last summer, claiming that he was being treated incorrectly: "Washington missed another opportunity to promote him. He is still less good than the average NBA player."

This past summer Danny Abdia included several weeks of individual work in the United States with senior personal trainer Drew Hanlan, training in Israel with Washington development coach Joe Ajaika and the dessert will be an intriguing performance in the Israeli national team uniform in the World Cup and European Championship qualifiers.

But despite the intense recess, some Washington letters are convinced that the Wizards' conduct around Abdia is wrong.

In a podcast by Matt Moderno and Kevin Brom from the blog "BulletsForever", the two claim that the Wizards even made a mistake when they did not oblige the Israeli forward to participate in the summer league.

"Danny's rookie season was terrible. The second was better, but still below average, still below the NBA player's average level. There are so many areas he needs to improve in, and in many cases players his size are going to play in the summer league to get better," he said. Brom explained the rationale behind the claim.

"What would have happened if Washington had forced him to come to the Summer League, and try him as a coordinator? Even if it hadn't worked, obviously it would have promoted him. Danny didn't get to a good enough level for the Wizards to just give it up."

Summer is busy, vacation is full of work, but is the conduct around wrong?

It should be noted that most of the time, players who participate in the summer league are freshmen in the draft or free agents who are trying to get a contract in the NBA.

In a few cases a player who developed a third season in the league (like Abdia) played in the summer league, but there were also examples of players that it helped them get better.

The Wizards had to explain to Danny, 'You have work to do, and we need to help you get better.' Danny has NBA size, NBA athleticism, he also has some NBA abilities - but he needs a boost.
