And if Guingamp and Metz were full of confidence, the Girondins, meanwhile, were hooked.
Bordeaux, at the end of boredom
After being reinstated in Ligue 2 by the executive committee of the French Federation (FFF) this week, Bordeaux needed to focus on the pitch.
And finally, David Guion's men were hooked by Valenciennes (0-0).
In a match with few chances (two shots on target for Bordeaux, zero for the visitors), the Girondins failed to find the fault, stumbling several times over Larsonneur (9th, 51st).
The entry of the striker awaiting departure, Hwang Ui-Jo, did not change anything.
However, Bordeaux can still take something positive from this match: indeed, and unlike last season, they did not concede any goals.

Metz imposes itself largely
After being in the slums of the elite all last season, the Messins found their colors in Ligue 2 this Saturday.
The formation of Laszlo Boloni, considered a potential favorite for the rise in Ligue 1, started its championship well by crushing Amiens (3-0).
Very realistic, FC Metz opened the scoring through Lamine Gueye, following a very good number from Jallow (20th).
Mikautadze then worsened the score with a shot from outside the area (44th).
Then, Ibrahima Niane concluded the great collective performance in Messina after returning from the locker room (48th).
This promising inaugural success should give confidence to the Messins at the start of the championship.
The Guingamp Festival
The EAG couldn't have asked for more.
Stéphane Dumont's men largely dominated Pau (4-0).
Jérémy Livolant opened the scoring in the first moments of the match on a cross from Taylor Luvambo (22nd).
For his first tenure, Jules Gaudin scored twice (32nd, 52nd).
On fire tonight, Mehdi Merghem also participated in his team's festival by scoring a superb goal: after recovering the ball, he lobbed the goalkeeper and scored in empty cages.
