Football: Bordeaux reinstated in Ligue 2

2022-07-27T10:55:25.033Z

The Executive Committee of the French Football Federation authorized, on Wednesday, the Girondin club to start the season in Ligue 2

Bordeaux breathes.

As revealed, this Tuesday, on our site, the executive committee of the French Federation (FFF), meeting urgently by videoconference, voted, this Wednesday morning, the reinstatement of the club in Ligue 2. He followed, in this sense, the favorable opinion issued Monday by the National Olympic Committee (CNOSF).

Time to play now: saved from their administrative demotion in National (3rd division), the Girondins will therefore receive Valenciennes, this Saturday at Matmut Atlantique, at the start of the Ligue 2 season (7 p.m.).

If we do not yet know, at this stage, the motivations of the 14 members of the Comex, chaired by Noël Le Graët, two concrete elements must have weighed in this choice.

First, the favorable opinion of the CNOSF, which judged that the Bordeaux file had been improved and concretized compared to what had been presented before the DNCG.

The approval, then, of the Girondins plan by the Commercial Court and the much clearer financial prospects (debt reduced from 53 to 13.5 million euros, credible budget for 2022/2023).

Aid for relegation (€7 million), the contribution of HVAC (€8.25 million) and the postponement of rent granted by Bordeaux Métropole concerning the Matmut Atlantique (€5 million in savings this season) must also , allow the club chaired by Gérard Lopez to stay afloat in the coming months.

On a sporting level, the workforce led by David Guion will have the difficult task of aiming for an immediate rise in the elite.

The Comex is made up of 14 members, but all obviously did not take part in the vote.

Vincent Labrune (president of the LFP) and Vincent Nolorgues (president of the Amateur Football League) are members by right and not elected.

Pascal Parent (president of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes League, where Villefranche evolves, eager to recover Bordeaux's place in L2) and Philippe Lafrique (vice-president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in charge of sport) have also withdrawn in order to avoid any conflict of interest.

For the record, the Girondin club, six times champion of France (1950, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1999, 2009), had been demoted to National by the financial policeman of French football, the DNCG, on June 14, then by the commission federal appeal on July 5.
