Dortmund – huge cheers at SV Werder Bremen!

The Green-Whites win 3-2 at Borussia Dortmund on the third matchday after being 2-0 down.

The game report of the DeichStube.

The game seemed lost long ago, 2-0 down at

Borussia Dortmund

, but

SV Werder Bremen

still had answers ready on Saturday afternoon – and what kind of answers!

Substitutes Lee Buchanan (89'), Niklas Schmidt (90'+3') and Oliver Burke (90'+5') turned Signal-Iduna-Park upside down with their goals and gave the team of head coach Ole Werner the first Victory of the

Bundesliga

season.

And it wasn't undeserved - after all, the guests had been the better team of the afternoon for long stretches.

Incidentally, numerous fans from both camps were only able to attend the game late or not at all because Dortmund Central Station was completely closed due to signal box damage on Saturday morning.

Werder Bremen wins a crazy game at Borussia Dortmund after being 2-0 down 3-2

Compared to the 2-2 draw against VfB Stuttgart, Werner had only made one change to his starting line-up: Christian Groß returned to the team after the infection had healed and replaced Ilia Gruev in sixth place.

Werner explained Werder Bremen

's route

before the game at

BVB

shortly before kick-off: "We want to show a certain aggressiveness again in the high start and have to help each other if we are outplayed." That's exactly what the guests did during of the first half then impressively for long stretches - before there was still a cold shower through

Borussia Dortmund

shortly before the break whistle .

In the 47th minute, it was Bremen-born Julian Brandt who gave

Borussia Dortmund

a 1-0 lead.

From the right wing, the

BVB

international moved in resolutely and shot the ball into the near post with his left – turning the game upside down.

Werder Bremen

had previously been

much closer to the lead in Signal Iduna Park.

Newcomer Jens Stage had the first really good chance of the game, heading over the goal after a free kick by captain Marco Friedl in the penalty area (21').

At that point at the latest it was clear that Bremen didn't just want to rely on defending against the favorites - quite the opposite.

Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund: Bremen have better chances, but BVB takes the lead

With a mixture of disciplined defensive work, in which Leonardo Bittencourt in particular shone as the ball conqueror, and courageous advances,

Werder Bremen

managed to prevent

BVB

from developing in their own stadium.

After a nice cross from Bittencourt, Dortmund-born Marvin Ducksch could have taken the lead, but his direct acceptance was too central and ultimately wasn't a problem for BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel (34').

Just a minute later, Ducksch's strike partner, Niclas Füllkrug, didn't aim accurately enough with his left.

On the other hand, there was little to see from the hosts offensively, which changed in the 38th minute.

Werder Bremen

goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka had to save against Anthony Modeste in dire straits and suffered a painful headshot as the

BVB

striker pulled through.

The Borussia Dortmund

striker

consequently saw a yellow card.

Pavlenka, who had just recovered from a broken nose, was able to continue after a short break in treatment.

After Ducksch's free-kick failed shortly thereafter against the strongly reacting Kobel (43rd), everything looked as if it would go into the dressing room goalless.

It probably would have been if Bremen hadn't switched off 60 seconds too early, given Brandt too much space and conceded the 0:1.

"We had Dortmund well under control, but unfortunately didn't take our chance and then allowed ourselves to be inattentive," complained

Werder-Bremen boss Klaus Filbry

at half-time.

However, the conceded goal did not bring the guests out of their rhythm.

Schalke 04 criticized for fitness: coach Kramer justifies himself

After the restart it was still

SV Werder Bremen

who had more of the game and provided offensive actions.

There was excitement in the 54th minute when Mats Hummels flew the ball into his arm in his own penalty area.

However, because the

BVB

defender was on the ground and supported himself with his arm, referee Florian Badstübner did not decide on handball.

Werder's protests were then limited.

The guests preferred to keep trying and had the next good chances through Anthony Jung (59th) and Ducksch (60th) – but they didn’t bring any results either.

And so it happened that on the other side, at the beginning of the final phase, the presumed preliminary decision was made.

Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund: Raphael Guerreiro makes it 2-0 for BVB – but Bremen are coming back

After a corner was saved, the ball landed at

Raphael Guerreiro

, who shot from around 20 meters and scored low to make it 2-0 (77th).

Although the ball hit the center relatively, Pavlenka's view was blocked when the shot was shot, so he was only able to react late.

Shortly thereafter, the Werder Bremen

keeper

was on the spot and repelled a shot by Thorgan Hazard against the post (80th).

Substitute Lee Buchanan gave

Werder Bremen

new hopes of

a point win at

Borussia Dortmund

,

who scored the connection with a wonderful shot from the outside of the foot – 1:2 (89th).

And this hope, it was fulfilled!

In injury time, it was

Niklas Schmidt

(90+3) who headed the much-acclaimed equalizer.

But that's not all!

Oliver Burke also had a goal ready.

As against Stuttgart, the joker stabbed – and gave Werder

their first win of the season with his goal in the fifth minute of injury time at

BVB .

Werder Bremen:

Pavlenka – Pieper, Veljkovic, Friedl – Weiser, Groß (81 Gruev), Jung (69 Buchanan), Bittencourt (69 Schmidt), Stage (62 Schmid) – Füllkrug, Ducksch (81 Burke)

BVB defended badly.

Buchanan is the beneficiary, firing into the angle with a whopping outside instep shot.

Lee Buchanan with his debut goal in the Bundesliga!

National player Schlotterbeck has to be treated, but can apparently continue.

83 min:

Marius Wolf still sees the yellow box because of time wasting.

It no longer looks as if BVB would need this.

81 min:

Burke is sent directly by Schmidt.

The Scot appears alone in front of Kobel, who parries with his foot, which is worth seeing.

It would have been offside anyway.

81 min:

Burke and Gruev come for Ducksch and Groß for the last ten minutes.

Moukoko is also allowed to stand in for the invisible Modeste.

80 min:

Post Hazard!

Now that the game seems to be decided, BVB seems to want to tweak the result again.

Werder Bremen against Borussia Dortmund in the live ticker: BVB increases to 2-0 through Raphael Guerreiro

77 min:

The preliminary decision!

After a corner, Guerreiro gets the ball in front of the penalty area. The Portuguese takes an ice-cold shot and hits the net.

Pavlenka goes down too late, but only sees the ball shortly before impact.

77 min: Goal for Borussia Dortmund.

Raphael Guerreiro scores to make it 2-0.

73 min:

Werder continued to have more possession of the ball than Edin Terzic’s team after the break.

But defensively, the hosts currently have everything under control.

68 min:

Bittencourt showed a strong game and is now being replaced by Schmidt.

In addition, Lee Buchanan can collect more Bundesliga minutes for Anthony Jung.

68 min:

Reus falls in the penalty area after being hit by Pieper.

There is contact, but that's not enough for a penalty.

67 min:

Dortmund again with a corner.

But it comes way too flat.

62 min:

A few substitutions are to be announced: Romano Schmid comes for Jens Stage.

Süle comes for Hummels, Hazard for the goalscorer Brandt and Reyna for Bynoe-Gittens.

Werder Bremen against Borussia Dortmund in the live ticker: Werder with further chances against well defending BVB

60 min:

Two more Werder chances worth seeing!

Jung and Ducksch fail because of the sliding Schlotterbeck and the diving Kobel.

58 min:

The SVW presses early.

Especially Stage and Bittencourt do a lot of running work today.

Dortmund has problems combining into the opposing half.

54 min:

Good combination of Bittencourt, Ducksch and Füllkrug in which Hummels' supported hand is in play.

No penalty because it wasn't intentional.

Nevertheless, it can be seen that Werder is always dangerous.

Here's something else!

53 min:

Borussia lets Werder come a bit.

Werder does not yet know how to use the possession of the ball.

48 min:

Super pass from Füllkrug to strike partner Ducksch, but he can't get his foot on the game device just before Kobel.

47 min:

Julian Brandt gets the opportunity to extend the lead immediately after his opening goal.

However, the angle was a little too acute.

46 min:

Let's continue.

Both coaches will not change players for the time being.

Only Emre Can replaced the injured Dahoud.

4:28 p.m .:

In the Sky interview, Klaus Filbry is asked about a possible commitment from Max Kruse, who is currently mainly on the bench at VfL Wolfsburg.

The managing director puts a stop to a transfer.

He doesn't think that anything will change in this personnel area, as the current squad sees itself well positioned.

halftime.

After a strong first half, Werder have to go into the dressing room with a 0-1 deficit.

After several good scoring chances were missed by Bremen, a lack of attention still ensures the flattering Dortmund leadership.

However, the appearance of the guests encourages us to take something with us today.

Werder Bremen against Borussia Dortmund in the live ticker: Shortly before half-time, BVB takes the lead

45 min+2:

That's bitter.

Werder was the better team in the last twenty minutes and still conceded the 0:1 just before the break.

Brandt is allowed to march freely towards the center on the right just before the penalty area.

Big and young do not attack, so that the native of Bremen is free to shoot and accommodates the ball flat down on the right.

45 min +2: Goal for Borussia Dortmund!

Julian Brandt scores just before half-time to make it 1-0 for BVB.

45 min:

Referee Badstübner allows three minutes to play due to the injury interruptions.

43 min:

What a free kick!

Very strong from Ducksch past the wall.

Even stronger from Kobel that he still fishes him out.

Werder would have deserved the lead by now.

42 min:

Can runs into Ducksch's heels just before a promising conclusion just before the edge of the penalty area.

Yellow for Kobel, free kick for Werder.

41 min:

The home side realize that this will not be a sure-fire success today.

Lots of intensive duels and discussions determine what happens.

38 min:

Modeste and Pavlenka sprint for the ball after a fine pass from Bellingham. The Czech is on the ball in front of the French and yet Modeste does not stay away.

He hits Pavlenka in the face and especially on the freshly straightened nose.

The Bremen goalkeeper is currently being treated while Modeste receives a yellow card.

35 min:

Now the filling jug can do it!

After preparatory work by Jung, he shoots just over the box from a distance.

Werder is here!

34 min:

Bittencourt is wide awake and steals the ball from Bynoe-Gittens before passing Ducksch in the middle.

The direct conclusion is not a problem for Kobel.

31 min:

After half an hour, Werder is still in the game.

The front is still a little lacking in determination, but in the back Pieper and Weiser in particular have everything under control on the right-hand side.

Anthony Modeste is not yet a factor.

29 min:

Justified yellow card for Niclas Füllkrug, who hits Schlotterbeck with his arm in the face.

The warned man gets really upset because he was hit in the face by Can shortly before, unnoticed.

27 min:

Hummels clears the corner after a nice pass from Füllkrug to Bittencourt.

But the second corner remains just as safe as the following Dortmund counterattack.

24 min:

BVB has more of the game, but Werder can by no means be undermined here.

Again and again, Ole Werner's team tries to offer forward-looking football.

Werder Bremen against Borussia Dortmund in the live ticker: Jens Stage misses the lead

21 min: Good chance for Werder!

Bellingham places Stage on the left.

Friedl brings the free kick strongly to Jens Stage, who finishes free with his head.

However, he falls into reserve, so that the ball lands over the box.

Too bad, there was more in it!

17 min:

Mo Dahoud has to be substituted after a harmless foul on Leo Bittencourt.

He's holding his shoulder.

Emre Can replaces him.

Get well soon!

15 min:

At BVB, the 18-year-old Englishman Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is repeatedly staged.

So far, his speed and dribbling strength have not been able to do anything against Weiser.

12 min:

Füllkrug unnecessarily loses the ball in midfield and thus creates the next Dortmund chance.

Reus prevails against several Bremen players in the penalty area and is then cleanly tackled by Pieper.

10 min:

Friedl leaves his foot in a half position against Reus.

The foul takes the free kick himself, but fails at Ducksch's head.

6. Min

: Bittencourt snoops nicely on Ducksch, who brings the ball into the middle from the outside.

From there, Marius Wolf clears the corner.

This brings nothing.

5. Min:

After five minutes, Dortmund are dominant from the start.

2.Min:

Dortmund's first opportunity.

Dahoud missed the goal from twenty meters.

1st Min:

The game has started.

3:29 p.m .:

Only a few moments left until kick-off.

The teams enter the lawn.

3:25 p.m .:

“You’ll never walk alone” is currently playing in the stadium.

Always a goosebump moment.

3:21 p.m .:

The game’s referee is Florian Badstübner from Nuremberg.

3.15 p.m .:

The favorite role is clearly distributed.

Borussia have ambitions to play for the championship.

As a promoted team, Werder naturally fights to stay up in the league.

Nevertheless, the Bremen team counts on chances with courageous offensive play.

3:05 p.m .:

In the Sky interview,

Ole Werner

emphasizes that it is Bremen’s job to last longer in the good phases of a game over the course of the season.

Especially today it will be a challenge to get offensively behind the chain of Dortmund.

Werder Bremen vs. Borussia Dortmund in the live ticker: More than 8,000 Werder fans in the sold-out Signal Iduna Park

3:03 p.m .:

Almost half an hour before kick-off, not all of the 8,100 (!) Werder fans have arrived at the stadium.

A technical problem with Deutsche Bahn is currently causing a great deal of chaos at Dortmund Central Station.

After the sharply criticized action by the Wolfsburg police two weeks ago, this is the second time that Werder fans have encountered difficulties in getting to away opponents.

2:59 p.m .:

Marvin Ducksch

is not the only

native of Dortmund.

Newcomer

Amos Pieper

was also born in the immediate vicinity.

Both played in BVB's second team at the beginning of their careers and are therefore personally experiencing a special game.

2:52 p.m .:

At Werder, of course, Niclas Füllkrug and Marvin Ducksch should provide the necessary goals.

The start of the season went better for the former with two goals than for Ducksch, who was born in Dortmund and has so far seemed unlucky.

2:48 p.m .: In terms of

personnel, both teams can draw on the full today.

At BVB, newcomer Anthony Modeste is particularly in focus.

Due to Sebastian Haller's long absence, the 34-year-old Frenchman is making his home debut for the black and yellow team today.

2.40 p.m .:

Many well-known names among the hosts.

Compared to 2: 2 against Stuttgart, Ole Werner changes once.

Christian Groß can play again from the start.

Ilia Gruev has to give way for him again.

Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund - the preliminary report:

In general, as Clemens Fritz emphasized as head of professional football, he would like an exciting title race in the

Bundesliga

, for which a strong

BVB

would of course be important.

"If Dortmund maintains the stability they currently have, I trust them to play for the championship," said the ex-professional of

SV Werder Bremen

, who still hopes that

Borussia Dortmund

may be a little less stable on Saturday occurs last.

A positive side effect from Bremen's point of view:

Ole Werner

, who can also fall back on Amos Pieper and Marvin Ducksch in Dortmund, could then enjoy his first game in the packed Signal Iduna Park a little more.
