Is Maccabi Haifa on the way to a surprise acquisition?
According to a report in Italy, the Greens are trying to sign midfielder Sof Podgorano from the Italian Spezia.
Podgorano was a candidate to go on loan to several teams in the Italian second division, but it did not materialize.
Officials at the club confirmed that the possibility is being examined in an attempt to thicken the squad.
Podgorano grew up in Maccabi Haifa and was sold to Roma when he finished his youth.
He later moved to Spezia and since then has had trouble getting significant minutes in the Italian first league.
This season the player decided to move to the team where he will play and those around him confirmed that he is interested in playing in Haifa again.

In the meantime, the brakeman of the Senegal national team, Abdoulaye Sak signed for two years with an option for another year, after the club agreed with his Belgian club, Antwerp on his transfer to Carmel.
