After the big noise before the UFC 279 event in Las Vegas • The two main fights did not disappoint, and provided great pleasure to the audience • The Chechen defeated Holland in the first round and remained undefeated • Diaz, apparently, left the organization with a huge victory

The UFC 279 event was held this morning (Sunday) at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

In the main fight, scheduled just a day before, after Hamzat Chimayev, who was supposed to meet Nate Diaz, did not make weight, the veteran American fighter met Tony Ferguson.

Two of the veteran and most respected fighters in the organization delivered a great fight, with Nate Diaz eventually being able to submit Ferguson with a nice choke in the fourth round.

The two shared great respect for each other at the end, and Diaz, whose contract expired in the UFC after the fight, said in an interview: "Maybe it's time for me to move to other places, boxing or jiu-jitsu", and in fact confirmed that this is probably his last fight in the Octagon arena.

Hamzat Chimayev, who as mentioned missed the weight, fought in a Catchweight fight (for which no score is received) against Kevin Holland, the same Holland that only two days before he confronted him backstage - which caused the cancellation of the event's press conference.

The Chechen fighter, kept his perfect balance and went up to 0:12, another impressive performance.

He took Holland to the ground right from the beginning of the fight and managed to subdue him in 2:47 seconds.

Despite the bad blood between the two, Chimab and Holland smiled at the end of the fight and exchanged hugs.

Chimab has received quite a bit of criticism in recent days for the lack of professionalism he showed when he failed to weigh in, but once again proves in the Octagon arena that he is one of the best fighters in the organization today.

He explained in the interview: "I could stand the weight, but the doctor forced me to stop the cutting because of a medical problem. I understand that this is wrong."
