Loris Karius in the Union Berlin jersey: In search of football happiness

He was considered one of the most talented goalkeepers in Europe.
This summer, Loris Karius, now 29 years old, stayed without a club.
Until now: The English club Newcastle United have announced the signing of the former Bundesliga keeper in response to the injury of their regular backup goalkeeper.
Karius should not (for the time being) have more than a sublease in his new home.
His contract is only valid for three and a half months until January and has the option to be extended until the end of the season.
Karius is set to replace Karl Darlow who injured his ankle in training.
Karius was officially under contract with Liverpool FC until the end of June.
The top European team signed him from Mainz 05 in 2016 for a sum worth millions.
Karius was supposed to be the long-term goalkeeper for the »Reds«, even for the national team he was an issue at times.

The most successful phase of his career ended with a break: In the Champions League final in 2018, Karius made two almost inexplicable mistakes, Liverpool lost 1: 3 against Real Madrid.
After that, Karius did not play any more games for Liverpool, and in the following summer coach and manager Jürgen Klopp signed the Brazilian national keeper Alisson Becker – for a reported sum of more than 60 million euros.
Karius didn't manage to get back to his old strength after the final.
In the meantime, he was on loan from Liverpool to Besiktas in Istanbul, but resigned there due to non-payment of wages.
Even with a Bundesliga return to Union Berlin on loan, he was not happy.
Although Karius showed good performances in the games in which he got a chance, Andreas Luthe played at Union, sometimes with errors.
