German star Alexander Zverev will miss the Davis Cup tennis tournament temporarily due to injury.
The German Tennis Federation said in a statement today that the 25-year-old Zverev has not participated in any competition since he suffered an ankle injury during his semi-final match of the French Open in early June, and therefore he will not be able to return to the courts during this week.
Yannick Hanfmann has been called up to replace Zverev in the German team looking to qualify for the Davis Cup finals in Malaga in November.
