The amateur coach is said to have replied to a request from River Plate that he would be free from December.
Munich – Will a dream come true for Martin Demichelis soon?
The Argentine is currently coaching Bayern Munich's second team but could be lured to Argentina by his childhood club.
The South American top club River Plate is looking for a new coach.
Successful coach Marcello Gallardo announced his surprising resignation on Thursday in tears.
And for the Argentine media there was immediately a favorite as a successor: ex-River professional Martin Demichelis.
The 41-year-old started his career with the club from Buenos Aires and played there for six years before moving to Europe to join Bayern Munich.
The reverse switch could happen by the end of the year.
The Argentine pay-TV broadcaster "TyC Sports" reports that River Plate has already asked Demichelis.
FC Bayern: Demichelis is said to be leaving amateurs in December – River Plate probably wants an ex-professional as a coach
His answer accordingly:
In December Demichelis leaves FC Bayern
and has serious intentions to take over River Plate Buenos Aires.
Is his departure from FC Bayern already certain?
“I dream of directing River.
Whoever chooses this profession, who does not dream of managing the club of their childhood?
I also had the chance to play there, to grow and to become a champion," Demichelis said at the beginning of 2021 about a possible coaching scenario.
But also clarified: “I hope that Marcello Gallardo will stay for another 25 years.
He's the best in the club's history.” Gallardo is gone now and Demichelis could follow him.
The jump from the Bavarian regional league to the absolute top club River Plate would of course be huge for Demichelis.
But he is a club icon for the “Millionarios” from Buenos Aires.

In the case of a request from River Plate, a quick farewell is quite conceivable.
FC Bayern would hardly put obstacles in the way of a deserving ex-professional if such opportunities were to open up for him.
When asked by Fußball Vorort / FuPa-Oberbayern, FC Bayern did not want to comment on the rumours.
