In the Friday games of the 13th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, a curious mistake by Hansa goalkeeper Markus Kolke gave the Lauterers their fourth win of the season in the 2-0 (0-0) between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hansa Rostock.
The weakened Darmstadt, on the other hand, did not get more than a 1-1 (0-1) draw against Holstein Kiel after a weak first half, but still remain at the top of the table.
With his sixth and seventh goal of the season, Terrence Boyd (67th/82nd) ensured the 2-0 (1-0) win at FC Hansa Rostock on Friday evening.
Hansa keeper Markus Kolke slipped the ball through his legs at FCK's opening goal and initiated his team's fourth home defeat.
The climber from the Palatinate is still unbeaten abroad.
Hansa's energetic start fizzled out quickly.
The Lauterers positioned themselves better, were compact and even had the best scoring chances of the uneventful first half.
Even after the restart, the goal-threatening excitement remained very manageable.
Kolke had to deflect a direct shot from Lautern's right-back Erik Durm over the bar after a good hour and then made the nasty mistake: the Hansa goalkeeper let a solid header from Boyd slip through his legs and into the goal.
With his second goal Boyd then cheated the decision for the Palatinate, who are now seventh in the table with 19 points.
Table leaders SV Darmstadt 98 allowed themselves to lose a point in the 2nd Bundesliga three days after their cup coup against Borussia Mönchengladbach (2:1 (1:0)).
The lilies came to a 1:1 (0:1) against Holstein Kiel at the Böllenfalltor.
Steven Skrzybski (35th minute) gave the guests the lead, Matthias Bader equalized (72nd).
Darmstadt avoided defeat with an attack in the second half and are now unbeaten in 14 games.
Darmstadt suffered from the loss of a number of top performers, including cup winning goal scorer Aaron Seydel, but really put the pressure on after the break.
Patric Pfeiffer (51st) and Braydon Manu (62nd) both missed chances with a header.
When equalizing, Bader scored from an acute angle through the legs of goalkeeper Thomas Dähne.
