The signing is surprising:
Alex Tyus, ex-Maccabi Tel Aviv, signed today (Thursday) with the French team Villerban, as a replacement for Joffrey Lauvern who was injured last week.
According to the reports, the power forward was chosen due to his being a free agent without a contract, and he signed with the club until the end of the season.
Team coach TJ Parker said after the signing: "After the injury to Auburn, we had to react quickly to try to find the best way to strengthen our front. Alex will bring us his athleticism on defense and rebounding in particular. And he also has great experience and knowledge that will be important to us."
Tyus played a total of 196 games in the Euroleague, when his debut in the factory was in 2012-13, when he played in Canto, and then played in the Maccabi Tel Aviv uniform.
The last time Euroleague fans got to see Tyus was with Real Madrid, where he played in the 2020-21 season.
Throughout his 196 games in the Euroleague, the player averaged 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
