His departure was a bang: At the end of August, head coach Martin Grelics frustrated TuS Geretsried and threw the ball down.

Geretsried – Almost exactly three months later, the sports teacher returns to his old place of work: as a sports director, the 36-year-old is to direct a realignment of the state football league.

"We are planning some conceptual changes in winter," says department head Ibro Filan, who initiated the initiative to make his ex-coach the official post palatable.

"He approached me after the Landshut game and asked if I could imagine something like that," confirms Martin Grelics, who returned to the Isarau Stadium as a spectator for the first time after resigning.

"It was a nice feeling.

I noticed that I'm still in there," says the 36-year-old, "and I'm not finished yet." We met, exchanged ideas, and sketched out a rough job description.

Finally he came to the conclusion: I find it interesting and exciting, I would like to do it.

"I believe that I can help the club with quality," Grelics approaches his new area of responsibility with the usual optimism.

Although the last details are still to be clarified, Filan says that there is basic agreement on where to go.

The new sporting director should be equally responsible for the first and second teams as well as the U19s.

The main focus is on squad planning.

The first activities in this regard should already take place in winter.

According to the ideas of the department management, Grelics should relieve the burden on the department head on the one hand and, above all, coach Daniel Dittmann on the other.

"He should have the conversations that a coach doesn't have," says Filan.

Grelics also sees his responsibility in showing the players clear structures: "It must be clear to the players what works and what doesn't." to give players perspectives”.

Filan and Grelics had already outlined the idea of relying even more on their own offspring in the entire men's division some time ago, now the ex-coach can work on the concept without pressure from the table.

Dittmann should also benefit from this.

"I've always stayed in touch with him.

I won't scale back his philosophy," emphasizes Grelics.

The 22-year-old coach is enthusiastic about the development.

Being able to work closely with his ex-boss again is an “incredibly good feeling”.

The decision also means security for the future of the club: "The planned upheaval is clearly defined by such a personality," explains Dittmann.

“And I get good feedback.

This is a relief for me.”
