Feeling limited in his movements, the French number 1 will not participate in the Masters 1000 of Paris Bercy, which begins on Monday.

French number 1 Gaël Monfils will not participate in the Rolex Paris Masters, which begins Monday at Bercy, because he feels "limited in his movements", he announced on Twitter on Friday.

In doing so, he puts an end to his season.

Hi friends, as you have seen this week on stream, I am still limited in my trips on the court.

So I won't be able to defend my chances at @RolexPMasters.

I'm going to take advantage of the end of the year to prepare for the next season 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/kMuohYUbJt

The 36-year-old Parisian has not played since suffering a foot injury in August.

He also became a father for the first time this month, his wife, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, having given birth to a baby girl named Skai.

“I will take advantage of the end of the year to prepare for the following season,” he assures us.

Monfils, finalist at Bercy in 2009 and 2010, was the only Frenchman to be able to appear in the main draw of the last Masters 1000 of the year by virtue of his ranking (41st).

There will be at least four French people on the starting line (Adrian Mannarino, Richard Gasquet, Gilles Simon, Arthur Rinderknech) thanks to the wild cards allocated by the organizers.

They may be joined this weekend by players from qualifying.
