A hard blow to the Senegal team and the entire football world.
According to a report this morning (Wednesday) in the French newspaper L'Equip, Sadio Mane, striker of the African champion team and one of the best strikers in the world, will miss the World Cup.
Mane, who was replaced yesterday in Bayern Munich's victory over Werder Bremen (1:6) already in the 20th minute, is suffering from a tendon injury that will disable him for several weeks and will not come with his friends to the World Cup in Qatar, which was supposed to be one of the greatest moments of his career.
Mane, who won second place in the Ballon d'Or after Karim Benzema, led his team to win the Africa Cup of Nations last year with a victory over Egypt in the final and a month later, he also managed to get past the Pharaohs on the way to the World Cup which will start in 11 days.
Last summer, Mane left Liverpool after six years and, as mentioned, signed with Bayern Munich.
From the beginning of the season he scored 9 goals and added 3 assists in all competitions.
