Premier League: City are overthrown by Brentford and leave Arsenal in the lead

2022-11-12T15:51:18.380Z

Manchester City was defeated by Brentford (1-2). Arsenal remain firmly in the lead and can take a lead of up to five points.

Thunderbolt at the Etihad Stadium.

Brentford FC created a sensation this Saturday afternoon by winning on the lawn of Manchester City (1-2).

The Bees entered the game perfectly by going to get their opponents of the day in their camp to recover the high ball and thus project themselves quickly.

An effective game plan since they got several clear chances... But it was finally on a (very) distant set piece that they opened the scoring.

On a free kick struck by David Raya, Benjamin Mee deflected the ball for Ivan Toney who managed to lob Ederson with a header (16th).

Surprised, the Citizens - who seemed to be playing with the handbrake - sped up the throttle.

And just before the break, Phil Foden put the two teams level again.

In the second act, Pep Guardiola's men continued to dominate.

But despite all their attempts - mostly from afar - they failed to break the Bees' lock.

And the latter took advantage of the ten minutes of additional time - deserved because of the multiple interruptions of play - to get the three points on a counter-attack.

Entering the game, Yoane Wissa initiated a transition before serving on the right side Joshua Dasilva.

The Briton overwhelmed Manuel Akanji before crossing to the ground for Ivan Toney who cut the trajectory of the ball to score his second goal of the day and thus give victory to his team.

With this setback, the Citizens lose valuable points in the title race;

the Bees, they temporarily go back to 10th place in the standings.
