The German national soccer team has arrived in Oman for a short training camp ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

The DFB entourage led by national coach Hansi Flick landed in Muscat late Monday evening (local time) after a flight of several hours from Frankfurt am Main.

Immediately afterwards, the players around Captain Manuel Neuer were to be driven to the team hotel right on the beach, not far from the airport.

Marc-André ter Stegen was missing from the 26 nominated World Cup players.

The 30-year-old substitute goalkeeper initially stayed in Germany because of a gastrointestinal infection.

The national team stays in Oman until Thursday.

Then in the morning we continue to the World Cup quarters in Qatar.

Before that, the dress rehearsal against hosts Oman will take place in Muscat on Wednesday evening.

The World Cup tournament begins next Sunday.

Germany start the group stage three days later against Japan with Spain and Costa Rica as other opponents.
