Goals | 1-0 Ingvartsen (23'), 1-1 Endo (42') |
59th minute: Again the clean sheets: Fernandes pulls a free kick dangerously in front of goal from the left, Onisiwo just misses. Bredlow is able to clarify the situation.
56th minute: Good transition situation for VfB: Silas storms over the left, but his pass to Endo does not arrive – unclean!
54th minute: Mainz came out of the dressing room better and initially determined the game without becoming much dangerous.
46th minute: The ball is rolling again. What else is in here?
Half-time conclusion: Mainz gave the Swabians the ball in many phases in the first half, but the guests didn't know what to do with it for a long time. Captain Wataru Endo was only able to conceal this with pure will, so that Stuttgart went into the dressing room with a 1-1 draw against an efficient Mainz.

Endo equalises for VfB
42nd minute: Equaliser for VfB! Silas comes over on the right and brings the ball into the middle with a little too little pace, so that Guirassy does not get to the ball. But M05 doesn't manage to clarify the situation either and so Endo prevails with a lot of will and hits the marble into the mesh to make it 1:1.

40th minute: Good opportunity for the Rhineland-Palatinate after a loss of possession by Anton: Stach sticks through to Onisiwo, who turns again and then pulls off - no problem for Bredlow.
38th minute: A Stuttgart opportunity: Ito brings the corner from the right into the center to Endo, who sends the leather with his head over the goal.
32nd minute: The home team keeps giving the ball to the Swabians, but the guests are frighteningly harmless and hardly get into finishing situations.
29th minute: Suddenly Guirassy appears in front of the Mainz box, but goalkeeper Dahmen throws himself into the ball.

Ingvartsen gives Mainz the lead against VfB
23rd minute: Mainz take the lead almost out of nowhere: After a corner from the left, Onisiwo heads into the middle and Ingvartsen pokes the ball over the line with his left foot to make it 1-0 - right into the heart of the Swabians.
18th minute: VfB now have the ball a little more, but can't do much with the leather in terms of attack.
VfB and Mainz feel their way around in the early stages
13th minute: Now Stuttgart's Tomas brings in a free kick from the left wing, but the zero fives have no problem clearing the ball out of the dangerous zone.
8th minute: The game continues to take place between the two penalty areas. Stuttgart at least seems wide awake and defends concentrated.
4th minute: The atmosphere in the stands is magnificent. On the pitch it is still a palpation.
1st minute: Referee Sven Jablonski blows the whistle. The ball is rolling.

VfB star Borna Sosa out ill against Mainz 05
VfB coach Hoeneß will have to do without Borna Sosa, who is unavailable due to an infection of the mouth and throat. Nikolas Nartey starts for him. Meanwhile, Mavropanos, who has recovered, has to take a seat on the bench for the time being.

VfB goalkeepers Bredlow and Müller were absent from training
Due to a cold, goalkeepers Fabian Bredlow and Florian Müller did not train. However, this was a precautionary measure, as VfB coach Hoeneß said at the press conference. Accordingly, both keepers should be available in Mainz. There was also a minor incident with right-back Josha Vagnoman, who had foot pain after a tackle in training.
However, coach Hoeneß has also received feedback from him that he should be fit for the game against Mainz. Konstantinos Mavropanos, who trained fully for the first time on Friday, is also looking good. However, Hoeneß did not want to reveal whether he is back in the squad: "It's still a day too early for that." If Mavropanos doesn't have any problems in the final training session on Saturday, nothing stands in the way of the Greek's appearance.

VfB coach Hoeneß can expect Mavropanos return
Most recently, defender Konstantinos Mavropanos was sidelined due to a small tear in a membrane in his shin. The Greek international is expected back against Mainz. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be allowed to play from the start. Instead of Tiago Tomas, who has been weaker recently, Enzo Millot could start.
Mainz coach Svensson fears for Zentner and Kohr
At Mainz 05, the stakes of the ailing Robin Zentner and Dominik Kohr are questionable. If the two are absent, substitute keeper Finn Dahmen and Anton Stach are available.
VfB Stuttgart vs Mainz 05 under pressure
Mainz/Stuttgart - If VfB Stuttgart want to continue to hope for direct relegation, the Swabians should win against Mainz 05 on Sunday (15.30 CET/DAZN). Depending on the results of the competition the day before, VfB could even be relegated in Mainz. Meanwhile, for the zero fives, European business has moved into the distant future. A four-point gap to sixth place is likely to be too much with two games to go.
