My Area

VfB goalkeepers Bredlow and Müller were absent from training

Due to a cold, goalkeepers Fabian Bredlow and Florian Müller did not train. However, this was a precautionary measure, as VfB coach Hoeneß said at the press conference. Accordingly, both keepers should be available in Mainz. There was also a minor incident with right-back Josha Vagnoman, who had foot pain after a tackle in training.

However, coach Hoeneß has also received feedback from him that he should be fit for the game against Mainz. Konstantinos Mavropanos, who trained fully for the first time on Friday, is also looking good. However, Hoeneß did not want to reveal whether he is back in the squad: "It's still a day too early for that." If Mavropanos doesn't have any problems in the final training session on Saturday, nothing stands in the way of the Greek's appearance.

VfB coach Hoeneß can expect Mavropanos return

Most recently, defender Konstantinos Mavropanos was sidelined due to a small tear in a membrane in his shin. The Greek international is expected back against Mainz. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be allowed to play from the start. Instead of Tiago Tomas, who has been weaker recently, Enzo Millot could start.

Mainz coach Svensson fears for Zentner and Kohr

At Mainz 05, the stakes of the ailing Robin Zentner and Dominik Kohr are questionable. If the two are absent, substitute keeper Finn Dahmen and Anton Stach are available.

VfB Stuttgart vs Mainz 05 under pressure

Mainz/Stuttgart - If VfB Stuttgart want to continue to hope for direct relegation, the Swabians should win against Mainz 05 on Sunday (15.30 CET/DAZN). Depending on the results of the competition the day before, VfB could even be relegated in Mainz. Meanwhile, for the zero fives, European business has moved into the distant future. A four-point gap to sixth place is likely to be too much with two games to go.
