Helicopter over Kabul.

They belong to the US armed forces.

This is not a combat mission, the helicopters are on their way to evacuate the staff of the US embassy.

The Bundeswehr will start a similar mission on Monday.

One thing is clear.

The Afghan capital falls to the Taliban.

The Afghan government surrendered without a fight.

Abdul Sattar Mirsakwal, Afghan Interior Minister

"The security of the city has been guaranteed. There will be no attack on the city. The city and power will be handed over to a third party, our job is to secure the city. Don't become a victim of Taliban propaganda, Kabul is sure. There won't be any problems "

The Taliban had previously taken Jalalabad, 160 kilometers east of Kabul - there was no significant resistance here either.

The overwhelming power of the terrorist militia has become too clear in the past few weeks and days, and the Afghan army had nothing to counter the advance.

Now a transitional government is apparently supposed to take over power for the time being.

How things will continue in Afghanistan in the long term is open.
