Charlie Watts, drummer for the legendary musical band The Rolling Stones, has died in London at the age of 80, according to a statement from his publicist, Bernard Doherty, accessed by the NBC News network.
"We announce with immense sadness the death of our beloved Charlie Watts," the statement said, "he passed away peacefully in a London hospital this morning surrounded by his family."
"Charlie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and, as a member of The Rolling Stones, one of the best drummers of his generation," he added.
