(CNN) - Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced that there will be a meeting between South American leaders on September 6 to discuss the policy surrounding the situation in the Amazon region, according to the Brazilian state news agency Agencia Brasil.
Bolsonaro met Wednesday in Brasilia with the president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, to discuss the results of the G7 summit and environmental issues. After its meeting, Agencia Brasil reported that Bolsonaro announced the meeting on September 6 and said it will be held in the Colombian city of Leticia, which is located along the border of Brazil and the Amazon.
