ÖVP and FPÖ advertise in the election campaign with the same slogan: "Who copied?"

"One who speaks our language" - with this slogan both Austria's ex-chancellor Kurz and the former FPÖ interior minister Kickl want to score in the election campaign. Both claim that the idea came from them.

Until the end of May, they put together the government in Austria. The coalition broke up as a result of the "Ibiza" affair with FPÖ vice-chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache. Now there is again displeasure between the former partners: blame is the slogan in the same word, with the ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) and the former FPÖ Interior Minister Herbert Kickl advertise in the election campaign.

"One who speaks our language" - these are the words in which the dispute ignites. Kurz and Kickl are both entitled to the slogan, which can be read on ÖVP posters and in the FPÖ's online campaign.

On September 29, the Austrians elect a new parliament. At present, a cabinet of experts leads the government in Austria.

Mutual allegations

"After Sebastian Kurz has copied the FPÖ topics in the last election campaign and now again, his advertisers now even take clear bonds in FPÖ slogans," said Kickl on Facebook.

In 1999 he had already developed a National Council election campaign for FPÖ leader Jörg Haider with slogans such as "One whose word counts", "One who can listen" or "One whose handshake applies". Kickl said, "So who copied now?"

On the other hand, ÖVP general secretary Karl Nehammer stated during the presentation of the posters that the FPÖ might have seen the poster in advance. "And obviously the saying was so good that the FPÖ now wanted to take over." Strikingly different is at least the situation in which Kurz and Kickl are scanned. Short is talking to hikers to see Kickl talks to police officers.
